Subject: [vpFREE] Name calling

Well, in the last few days, I have been called a bigot, an idiot,
several other things I didn't bother to recall; had my intelligence
questioned, opinions flung my way re what type of person I am (not
complimentary), etc. etc. All because I rendered an opinion that
BTW, many of the acid-spitters misread and misconstrued. What fun
this board is!
I have disagreed with other posters, and other posters have
disagreed with me, but I have refrained from attacks on the PERSON
of someone who I only know via a few paragraphs that he or she has
posted on the Internet. This basic civility seems to be a foreign
concept to many.
I would reiterate: I've asked this before; if your reply to one of
my posts consists mainly of a diatribe on what an ignorant putz I
am, please send such diarrhea to me via private e-mail. I don't
think the board benefits by YOUR sacred opinion of what a horrible
person I am.
I would also ask Tom Sims to refrain from his reflexive urge to
censor this post until everyone has had a chance to read it. For
some reason, the rules of basic decency don't seem to apply here, at
least in both directions: several posts that only contained insults
or sarcasm directed at me should not have been allowed to stay on
the board.
I would respectfully suggest to those who are offended by the
existence of points of view other than their own, that they refrain
from reading the posts on this board, and BTW, keep your TV tuned to
the Weather Channel, the only channel that probably won't render an
opinion on anything.
