Subject: [vpFREE] Harrah's Kansas City

I spent spent Friday night and Saturday morning at Harrah's North
Kansas City. As usual I headed straight for my favorite .25 All-
American machines, the round bank of six slant top Gamemakers in
front of the big screen on the first floor, only to find that they were
turned off. I headed upstairs, only mildly concerned at this point, and
found that the long bank of slant top Gamemakers in the middle of the
second floor were turned off. Next, mildly panicked, I headed for the
round bank of upright Gamemakers [(5)$1 and (1).25] on the second floor,
to the left side from the escalator. These were disabled too. At this
point I was sure that KC had joined St. Louis as a one location
All-American play (President-STL; Isle of Capri-KC).

However, my last hope proved to be my salvation---there were still some
active $1 and .25 AA machines remaining at the far back and left corner
of the second floor (from the top of the escalator). Later I noticed a
lone $1 Gamemaker with AA remained active along the right side wall as
you enter the main floor past the blues sculpture/fountain.

Does anyone know what is going on with all the disabled machines? I am
afraid they may be the latest victims of the dual trends toward TITO
and against positive EV video poker.

Don't know but will keep an eye on the situation and report when something happens. We are there at least once a week and sometimes more.

The machines around the column on the 1st floor were
disabled last Thursday. However, the AA at the bar
near the entrance was still up and working. All the
AA on the 2nd floor was also going, so I didn't worry
too much about it. I'm hoping the disabled machines
are just part of their conversion to TITO. We'll see.
If Harrah's doesn't want my business, that's fine.
I'll use up the $110 worth of food they owe me, cash
in any other coupons I have, then go play at the Isle
(AA) or Ameristar (NSUD).

I'll be visiting again this Thursday (3x day) and will
let everyone know what I find out.

We were there today and lots of stuff is turned off, being moved, etc. It will be a while before we know what is going on.

Hay, we will also be there Thursday afternoon. Want to meet somewhere and say HI?

Sure. I'm afraid I don't get off work until 5 and with the traffic won't
get to Harrah's until just before 6. If you're planning on staying that
late, let me know where you want to meet.

Carlos,

Looks like we will be long gone by the time you get there. We will

As of Friday the 25 cent and dollar AAs along the wall (second floor) were still there and active. The half dozen machines in a kiosk on the other side of the room were still dark -- same as for the past couple weeks. Also still dark are the machines by the deli downstairs.

FYI. Downstairs by the cashier's cage there is a bank of triple play quarters. One machine, and only one, has 9/6 JOB.

···

**********************

We spent Saturday night at Ameristar and attended the Smothers Brothers show. The show was great and we laughed until our sides hurt. Earlier we hit the casino up for a comped room so we wouldn't have to drive home late at night. They were sold out but said they had 5 rooms that were not confirmed. We took a chance and packed a bag when we left home. About 6:30 they released the rooms and our host got one -- comped of course. The room was nothing to brag about, just standard hotel with the bed springs broken down on the side next to the phone. We did have a great comped meal in Buggeti's (sp?).

The big news is Lucky Lucy got into the Star Club at Ameristar (with a little help from Losing Rick). The Club is not as nice as the Diamond but the food is much better, and they serve lunch. So we been getting more food comps than we can use at Ameristar and now have access to more free food. Guess we will just get fat(er).

The weekend gambling didn't go too bad. I lost but Lucky Lucy was able to cover me and gain about $75 profit. The dollar 9/6 JOB machines -- slant tops by the downstairs bar -- are gone. Replaces by new and short pay machines. The only dollar machines left are some old ones by the deli and I suspect they will soon disappear also. Looks like the best gamble in the Ameristar is a $5 9/6 JOB progressive in the High Limit area with over $25K on the clock. But who can afford that!

I will continue to keep an eye on the AAs and report any changes.

Ameristar also has 9/6 JOB in the 10-play, 50-play and 100-play
machines. 1c, 2c, 5c and 25c denominations.

I can confirm most of the machines are still there, and the same ones
are still turned off. However, the new news is that some of the
disabled machines have been moved because Harrah's is reorganizing.
The area closest to the Deli on the 1st floor is now all video poker,
instead of mostly slots. I believe it will all be short pay stuff,
but will confirm that later.

The 6 Bally Multi-Game's (with AA) around the column have been
removed, but I can hardly believe they won't be put somewhere else in
the casino because they were VERY popular.

I know about the 10, 50 & 100 play in 1 through 5 cents -- upstairs, center section -- but where are the 25 cent machines?

I shouldn't post when I'm tired. I know the 50- and 100-plays are full pay, but not quarter. I think I was confusing the 10-play machines with the 3- and 5-plays downstairs. I'll be there later this week and will recheck. Sorry for the confusion.

carlos

PS But it's nice the Ameristar has such a huge inventory!

Lucky Lucy and I met Chris from this group at Harrah's Thursday
afternoon. We had a great visit and really enjoyed chatting with
Chris. Chris, hope you won a ton of money after we left.

We hit the two casinos today and can report all the machines that were
out of service in Harrah's are now back in operation. That includes
the kiosk upstairs by the slant tops and the kiosk by the deli. Looks
like nothing has changed except the PickE'm at the deli, they are now
short paying 3OAK to 4 instead of 5. The ones upstairs are still full
pay.

All American Annie was at her usual post playing $1 AA. She must
spend 8 hours a day, 5 days a week there. Contrary to previous reports
(from me), she is playing correct strategy. Some day I will get up
enough nerve to ask her how she is doing.

Moved on to Ameristar to play the $1 JOB slant tops by their deli only
to find they are history. That's it for single line full pay $
machines in Ameristar. We tried the 25 cent 5-play NUSD and they were
kind to Lucky Lucy but not me. I lost $200 in a flash and moved to a
$ 7/5 Bonus progressive. Soon hit 4 Aces and was back in the game.
Drained a few more bucks from a 25 cent PickE'm and called it a day.
LL took her profit and moved to the 3-play $ machines in the high
limit area; I went along to watch. She was down a couple hundred and
got quads. Then a few hands later, got quads on the flop. Decided
that was a good place to quit for the day so carried off a nice piece
of change from Ameristar.
Topped off with a $50 good comp; it was a good day.

Rick
