That's the first I've heard about the 25c JW being MIA at
AZD. We'll be there soon and will double check.

I've gotten another report today that the good 25c games
at Planet Hollywood are no longer there and have just
made them MIA in the DataBase.

Posts like this make me angry. The database is never going to be
perfect. And VPFae and Mrs. VPFae can't be everywhere checking ever
machine in the database. Someone recently claimed to see FP games at
Planet Hollywood. VPFae updated the database. It is unfortunate that
the machines are either hard to find or MIA (I don't know, I've never
been there), but it isn't their fault or even the fault of the members
of VPFree that the database isn't always current or accurate. No one
is being paid to verify the accuracy of the database.

Thank you VP Admin, VPFae and Mrs VPFae for all your voluntary work on
VPFree. I for one appreciate the database for what it is, a guideline
of what I might expect to find in a particular casino, based on the
last report.

The current fad in VP advantage play is the fake MIA post. I've seen a
couple of these already. It's nothing I'd ever stoop to, but I can't
blame the poster for putting out false info. In both cases, the
machines were clearly a mistake, although some well meaning poster
didn't think it though. They never think, "did the casino really mean
to offer this game?"

One mistake is now played by an 80yo married couple, color coded cheat
sheets in hand, who pretty much have the machines locked up every
promo weekend at this particular casino. There's nothing that burns me
more than having one household lock up two machines on what's
essentially a two machine bank (which has happened on a similar play
in AC). Now, this is a $90/hr play or so, it falls slightly beneath my
own personal benchmark, but the comps and amenities at this casino are
very good, so I play it, but it is more work and less fun.
Fortunately, the promos don't add a whole lot more, and I can get on
late at night if I'm there on a weekend.

Please let me add my voice to those that concur with this.

It's funny how the times change, however. About two years ago, before I
was a member of vpFREE, I wrote in a Casino Player article that the
vpFREE database wasn't always 100% accurate but it was a good place to
start for video poker game information.

Somehow that remark got posted here and over the next several days I was
roundly trashed by numerous members. Some were insulted that I would
dare imply imperfection in the database. Others suggested that so long
as I knew it was imperfect, I should find all such imperfections and
report them. Others suggested I was taking a shot and wouldn't know
whether or not the database was accurate or not. Oh well. Water under
the bridge.

The fact remains that the database is the best source available --- and
it's maintained by volunteers, who bring different amounts of dedication
and knowledge to the task. There will always be the debate whether 'too
much information' kills plays, but most of us have found this
information useful.

Hi Paladin,

I usually understand quite well, what you are attempting to convey
in your posts. Sometimes I agree totally with what you have
written; other times, not as much. However, your last post,
partially appended below, has left me rather confused as to your
meaning.

Are you suggesting that the poster who reported that there are no
full pay Deuces or jokers at PH or FPJW at ACD, is an AP who has
posted a "fake" MIA report in order to ward off competition? Or was
this a "general" comment in regard to other recent MIA postings?

My second area of confusion is in regard to the "80yo married couple"
who are apparently playing long hours on both positive machines on a
two machine bank, while consulting "color-coded cheat sheets".

I do understand your repugnance at the blatant use of strategy
cards, since this may cause a casino suit to "notice" the machines
that they are playing, and possibly kill a good play. But what is
the problem with a married couple (and I am assuming that you have
some way of knowing that they are really hitched) playing two side
by side machines? I would think that this is a rather common
occurrence in many casinos. Surely, you don't believe that one of
the couple should give up his/her seat to you or any stranger, who
might indicate a desire to play one of the machines. You seem to
resent their monopolizing the machines simply because they reside in
the same household? Is there some reason, not made apparent in your
post, why this elderly twosome, be they ploppies, pros or anything
in between, should not be allowed to take advantage of this $90/hour
opportunity?

I most sincerely look forward to your answers.

Respectfuly,

~Babe~

I think this statement is just a little unfair. How could anyone
expect that the database should reflect up-to-the-minute inventory

I disagree, I would never call it a "wild goose chase". It's worth my
time to go investigate a possible good play when I hear about it. If
someone goes and finds that it's not as described they report that info
too.

You know, after all, it is FREE.

Same thing for my website. I report all the RV Friendly casinos I know
of in the USA and Canada, but I can't visit them all, I rely on readers
to send info to me.

I know the couple Paladin is referring to...let's call them "D"
and "R". D will sit there with her 8.5x11 color coded sheet unfolded
in her lap for hours on end. R will sometimes do the same. Either
they're incredible uneducated on Slot Management 101 or completely
naive to think management won't eventually catch on.

In addition, they'll park themselves on this bank for marathon
sessions. When asked when (if?) they plan to end their session
they've not been the friendliest. Now I don't have a problem with
someone playing long sessions but at least have the courtesy to give
others an approximate time when you'll be taking a break so they can
take a shot...especially when you're monopolizing the only two
playable games in the house of 2000.

I know one prominent VP author who is rumored to live by the
creed "it's not nice to not share". Meaning if he doesn't get his
way he goes running to management. I'm not naming names, and I think
this is a disgusting response to the situation, but it's something to
keep in mind when making a pig of yourself at a two seat buffet.

Hi Hockey,

Thanks for the clarification. I agree completely that constant and
blatant use of Strategy Charts, will likely cause a good machine to
disappear. If they are smart enough to play the good machines, how
foolish of them to jeopardize their existence.

I also agree that one should be as polite as possible when asked a
civil question. However, greedy as this couple seem to be, I can not
come up with a logical reason as to why, if they got there first,
they should relinguish one of the machines. Surely it would be a
friendly gesture to do so, but how many of us can say that we would
actually be that "friendly".

Since my realm consists of pretty much everything outside of LV (ok,
for that matter, pretty much everything outside of NV), you may assume
that this happened somewhere outside of NV.

I don't concern myself with quarter stuff.

I just think it's inherently wrong and selfish for one household to
lock up both machines on a two machine bank. If they weren't married,
it'd be considered team play. They kind of think they own the bank.
They go to dinner, they have the machines turned off. The cheat sheets
just add injury to the insult.

The couple in question seem very affectionate to each other, so I'm
guessing there's a relationship there of some sort ;).

I have no problem with them playing, but it's a $180 opportunity for
the household, not a $90 one (probably less, they play slower,
particularly the husband, the wife plays pretty good and reasonably
fast). If you want to act like pros, then conduct your business like
one. It's disingenuous, as one AC couple is famous for doing, to whip
out the old "we're just recreational players" line when you know
exactly what's going on.

This is actually a marginal play for me, the promos aren't worth very
much there. But I do play it when I need a room in that market and the
other amenities are first rate. It's a great play for a smaller denom
player (up to $1) though, just a lot of work IMHO.

At some point in time I may want to discuss after the play gets rolled

Now that I have a better picture of this greedy twosome, I am in
concurrence with your original assessment. It think that when
other players are waiting for the two machines, it's inexcusable
that this couple are permitted to have the machines shut down, while
they're off eating or whatever it is that they're doing. Let them
wait to eat until their play is finished, eat at the machine while
they continue to play, or go hungry! I will allow them a 5 minute
potty break however. That's better than having some unsuspecting
soul sit down on a wet seat!

Thanks for taking the time to satisfy my curiosity!

~Babe~

Wow. You will allow them five minutes. How generous of you.

I think that people, even teams, should be allowed to play
any damned machine they want to. And, if the casino's
policy allows machines to be 'locked up' - that's fine, too.
As long as all of the players (you, me, old married couples,
teams, etc.) are playing by the same rules, I don't see any
problem with it.

I agree wholeheartedly with this opinion. One person, one machine.

The reservations that I have (and I have stated it before), and I realize that it is a slightly
different situation, is when one player is playing two machines, while others are waiting to
play one of them.
