In addition to the missing FP-DW (by the center cashier), we also
quickly found out that the Palms had downgraded about 90% of their .25
Multi-Game / Multi-Denom. machines. These are scattered ALL OVER the
casino, and always had 9/6 Jacks, 8/5 Bonus, and 16/10/4/4 NSUD. Now
.... we could only find one small bank of four machines like that (by
the far east tip of the tables pit), and even those sucked money like a
Hoover. The MG/MD machines that were .25/.50/$1 still had 9/6 Jacks,
but the other games were downgraded. The other MG/MD machines that
were .05/.10/.25 were changed HORRIBLY ... 7/5 Jacks, 6/5 Bonus, and
15/9/4/3/2/2/1 DW ... UGH !!!!!!! There are still a few banks of .25
single game machines, with 8/5 Bonus, or 16/10 NSUD, and two good banks
of .25 Triple Play (others with short pay).
I came across a lady "shift supervisor" walking around Friday morning,
and I graciously introduced myself. But I then went into a full-bore
complaint (politely) about ALL of the changes, eliminations, and
downgrades. I really went at her on the .05/.10/.25 machines,
expecting quarter players to play the same crappy pay schedules as the
nickel players. I even suggested that maybe it was a programming /
tech error ... not changing the pay schedule as it moves to the .25
level.
I emphasized to her how much we used to love playing at the Palms, and
how the Maloof brothers were always known for good VP. And now ....
the atrocious changes were insulting to their customers, and we (and
others) will not come back and play those machine offerings. She
admitted that she understood my concerns, and that she would pass them
along to the "slots supervisor" and the tech people. In my mind,
that generally means one thing ..... don't hold your breath.
