Went to Wynn over the last weekend and noticed two new $1/$2/$5 3/5/10-
Play machines in the $5 slot area. What was interesting about them is
they have an auto-hold function turned on. Could not find a way to
turn it off.

I played $300 in the machine, and at least on DW the hold strategy was
correct for the hands I was dealt.

I play a lot at Wynn, and this is the first time I have experienced
this on any of the machines in that area of the casino.

What was the return on the DW paytable?

Does anyone else find it odd that a casino would offer a function on a
game that reduces the house edge?

Part(or much) of the profit in VP games comes from player mistakes.
Assuming the same auto-hold function were operative on a 10-7 DB game
the casino would actually be adding to its losses on a 100%+ ER game.

Deuces is one thing - I suspect that when it comes to penalty cards
and straight/flush interference in regular VP games the auto-hold may
not play as perfectly as you think.

I don't know... if the game is advertised as having an auto-hold
feature, one would expect that the auto-hold would correspond to that
paytable's payout. After all, would you play a game that made
mistakes?

Auto-holds are not always accurate. Most get alot of holds right but
get many wrong. You said you ran $300 through but didn't say how
many hands you played. I wouldn't trust the auto-hold until I've
seen every hand on the strategy chart. Also, if it is a bad pay game
the house is making money anyway.
