(Fwd) Day Trip to Jackpot NV

I say this with a grin, but it is true. I checked in Barton's 93
Club yesterday, and they have full-pay Pick-em (99.9%) in one
machine at the dollar level in their high-limit area. (They may
have it at the $5.00 level also, but I couldn't verify that.)

I hiked down to the Four Jacks again yesterday to feed quarters
into their quarter FPDW machine, which is very old. Ok, over
about a two year period, I have been in the Four Jacks three
times and checked on the FPDW machine. The first time it was
sitting unplugged and it looked to be out of business
permanently. That was about two years ago. Two months ago, I
was in there again. That time, this old quarter-dropper was all
polished up and operating. I actually played it for a couple of
hours. Yesterday, the machine was powered off and some of its
guts-it appeared to be a light fixture from inside the machine
was laying on top of the it. Around it was a mess of empty coin
wrappers. So here is the question: do they operate this machine
intermittently, so it can be listed in databases such as Vpfree
as a come-on to lure prospective players to their casino or is it
just extremely difficult to keep such an old machine working?
(The coin wrappers could also have been used for the old Nichol
machines on either side of the deuces machine.)

I plan to go back to Jackpot in about a month and I will check on
the FPDW again then.
