any complaints on 'long hauling'. Taking the tunnel is a violation,
unless the passenger gives the driver consent. Drivers can be fined
and/or have their license revoked for this practice. I have personal
experience in this because I was long hauled a few years ago and
filed a complaint. The bellman at the hotel even called the LV
Taxicab Authority for me. It would have been a PIA for me to pursue
the matter through the entire complaint process, but I DID get my $
back.This happened a second time and, upon arrival to our hotel (and us
grabbing our bags), I asked the driver if he wanted to 'comp' our
ride or if he wanted me to have the LV Taxicab Auth called for long
hauling us. He was quite pissed, but waved his hand and drove off.Many drivers have become creative in how they attempt to get your
consent. They phrase the question - Do you want me to take the
fastest (normally the tunnel) or the shortest route? or "there's a
wreck on Tropicana, do you want to avoid it?"There are a couple of exceptions. If you are staying at MBay or
possibly the Luxor, the tunnel IS both the fastest and the shortest
route to take.In recent years, we just rent a car and avoid cabs (and their ripoff
