FW Trip

Just spent my first overnight at FW. Unfortunately the machines were not kind to me. Accumulated 180 pts. I am presuming that the comp rate is still the one stated in VPFree2.

Anyway FWIW here's some opinions of the place.

Room..Host arranged a non smoking king Pequot room. The room was clean but the furniture needs renovation. The tub is very deep and the bathroom although a good size looked somewhat like one you would find at a Holiday Inn. Fortunately it was quiet so I slept undisturbed. MS rooms are definitely nicer.

Trails..I took a morning run on the Woods Trail. It was fine except for two or three very steep hills. Nearly fell coming down the slope of one. The bugs are out there and I got caught in a downpour half way through !

Machines: There are plenty of 9/6 JOB at the dollar and up level and also if you're so inclined 9/6 DDB and 9/7 DB.

The host gave me passes three times a day to either lounge. I ate all lounge meals in the International( Newport).
Bkft...Fair not as good as MS, at least the way it was two years ago on my last visit there.

Lunch Thurs. left something to be desired. Friday I thought the food was better.
  Service was good.

Dinner..I ate dinner Thurs. night in Al Dente. I had a glass of wine with a " Misto Salad" .. very good. For the main course I ate a Zuppa Di Pesce. Very good Would eat here again. Service was very good. Liked the feel of the place and the music..a lot of Sinatra ! Paid for almost all of the meal with a $50 food coupon that was mailed to me.

Now my major criticism..The Smoke !! It was all over the place. It became bad Thurs. night and all day Fri. My eyes are bloodshot I play in AC where smoking is only allowed on 25% of the floor. FW reminded me of AC when I first began going there in the late 90's. Perhaps this was worse due to the summer crowds. (It was quite busy on Friday). This might be a big deterrent to my becoming a FW regular.

Thanks for the trip report.
~$60K coin-in on 9/6 JB overnight so expect some decent free play if you lost big. Maybe even $100!

We give them ~$30K on FPJB and 9/6 DDB and now get $45 fsp. Going next week. A $50 gas card (only good at their station) as a bonus offer and there's a $30 free meal as well. By the way, the burger king at the station accepts points 1 for 1.

We are staying at the MGM. The rooms may be more to your liking.
We find the hi-limits to have better ventilation and less banging.

Haven't tried the lounges. My wife was no-mailed by FW beginning of the new century after a $25K slot tourney win. Back when they had FPDJ and FPPE. We try to keep a low profile and ask for nuttin.
Dave in Boston.

So you're saying that FSP is not just based upon coin in but also upon win/loss ?

Quite a hike from MGM to the rest of the action/lounges. Only saw three older machines ( that were taken) containing any decent play.

Hampton and great Cedars HL did have better breathing but if someone/or two sit near you or if they're smoking a lot in the Hampton Lounge..
BTW I found the machines in the Great Cedar HL to be too far away from the fixed chair. My arms tired too fast.

Noticed no change in FSP based on win and lose last few years. Wife got no mailed many years ago but that had to do with $25K win at tournament so then suits looked up her history.

Comments about significant offers never happened for us couple of years ago. Here's my observations.

When MS destroyed the vp, we did 6 trips over 6 months to FW.
Gambled on the $2 9/6 DDB with 5% slot play. Lost ~$10K and gave up on that experiment. Bounce back sucked ~$40 - and limited room.

We started going to Vegas/Reno once a month and winning streak started. Waited for something decent from FW and it never happened.
Went back about a year ago and wife got an $8K royal with $50K action.
We went back a month later and she got another $8K royal.

Didn't effect offers one way or the other. But didn't get no-mailed either so that's a good thing, i guess.

As far as walking from MGM - thought you were a walker.
It is a good walk but it's not that far and you can make it an adventure. Supposedly they'll be an outlet mall as well in future.
Maybe we'll take the shuttle bus.

As far as smokiness, imo scrimping by pequots on hvac maintenance.

Perhaps they wised up and realized that sometimes a player will win ! And it's more important to get the player back to your facility.

Oh yes I run 4 /5 times a week (not bad for 66+). It's not the distance just the inconvenience. But if there is a significant difference in the rooms then it might be worth the distance. I stayed away from MGM this past week based upon not wanting to encounter the young crowd who might be attracted to the outdoor pool.

This could be very true. I figured it would be better as the summer season leaves.

So what the latest strategy at mohegan ?
Lets see you cant earn points for video. The comps are practically nil . The gift giveaways are pure junk. I'm taking my weekly play elsewhere. I'll shop at my local department store
