The upteenth repeat of the World Series of Poker is on the TV again.
At my Wynn stay last week the poker room was jammed. At Borders I
scimmed a magazine named Bluff (one of several poker magazines) which
listed the top 50 players. The top players are making huge bucks on
endorsements, appearances in celebrity tournaments, etc. Some even
have fan clubs! It used to be that saying you make your living playing
poker meant you were some kind of conman ... now you're almost a
national hero. And the card poker craze goes on and on.
Does anyone have an opinion if this is helping or hurting VP?
Personally, as I've said previously on this board, I think it's a shame
VP doesn't have a loftier niche in the gambling world.
