Funny Double Up Story

Here's my double up story. Last month I'm at Mohegan Sun. I'm primarily a $1 player but I couldn't hit a thing that night so I figure I'd give the $5 9/6 JOB a try. After a couple of hours playing on that same $100, I get 10,J,Q,A of spades. I draw the K. As I'm staring at it in shock, my first $5 Royal ever, the Double Up option pops up. No jackpot, call attendant or bells. Now I must have stared at the screen for a few minutes reading double up and looking back and forth from the Yes and No to make sure I pressed the right button. When I was convinced I could correctly press the No button, I did and the bells and jackpot screen came on.

An attendant there told me that the prior month someone hit a Royal with maximum coins in for 120K and doubled up and won 240K. Now that takes a large set.

When I hit 4 Aces on DB with 45 credits bet, ($7200), the same double up
option appeared. It didn't appear on any other hits. I approached it the
same way, looked 3 or more times to make sure I was hitting the right
button. It's a little nerve wracking!

When I hit my one and only $1 RF at the Mohegan Sun (one minute into my trip, fifth hand at that!), it flat out asked me "DO YOU WANT TO DOUBLE UP?" I replied, "I don't think I'll double this one" and pressed "NO" and then the jackpot song started playing.

Seeing that double option pop up out of the blue on a jackpot does
make your heart skip a beat or two! And I've heard at least one story
along the lines of, "I nailed a RF and in turning to holler for my
wife to come over I merely brushed the machine without realizing the
double option was looming large on the screen and triggered the double!"

There's a reason the option suddenly fills the screen for the first
time on a pending hand pay ... and it's not the casino wanting to have
one last shot at their money

On machines like the IGT Game Kings the double option is typically
always turned on. But most players don't notice because it's simply
one more light that turns on after each win along the bottom of the
screen (reading "Double"). It's along the same margin where the speed
control generally appears and it was ages before I ever noticed it.

After a win, if you want to double you just touch the Double icon
rather than Dealing another hand.

However, when you hit a big one that requires a handpay you aren't
looking at the Double or Deal option. So, just to be fair, the
machine gives you one last shot before sounding the bells/flashing the
light. But when that double option pops up in huge type on a 19" (or
larger) monitor before I've barely registered that I've hit a jackpot,
my hand's been known to tremble, as I very carefully reach for "NO"
after I've scanned the question a dozen times or so
