Full pay in California! But is there a catch....???

Well, I guess I have partly answered my own question-

Barona Valley Ranch Casino, located in eastern San Diego County, has a bank of 10 $1 9/6 JB games- stumbled upon them last night. The same games also had 80/50 DW as an option (sorry, I don't play Deuces, so I am not sure what the full paytable was, but it certainly was 80 for the five of a kind and 50 for the SF). Of course, they were empty, only one of the machines was being used while the lesser paying multi-play games were packed. Looks like San Diego might have something to offer the vp player after all.

But there is a caveat- on Friday night I was playing a $1 9/7 DB machine for about an hour (hit 4 Aces twice (yes!) and 4 2s once to cash out for $2000 on an $80 investment) and I tracked the hands where I held cards to the Royal- and every time a card came up that helped towards the Royal, it came up in the first position available- and I mean every time. I doubt that an hour of play is statistically long enough to establish that as a precedent, but last night on the JB machine the same thing happened over about half an hour of play. I am usually not a skeptic or conspiracy theorist, but I am beginning to believe that the machines have been altered to do that. However I am not convinced that the games are rigged- I believe they are playing by Nevada rules except for that one minor change.

That reminds me of machines at the Atlantis in Atlantic City 15 years
ago which sorted the cards. From left to right, at least before the
draw, the cards would always be arranged from the smallest
denomination upwards, so that, if the first 5 cards were a 2, a 4, a
6, an 8, and a 10, the 2 would always be on the left and the 10 would
always be on the right, etc.

First - the deuces game you saw is NSUD.(not so ugly ducks) - which
has an EV of 99.7283%...While 9/6 Jacks or Better has a ev of 99.54%.
So you are in effect better off playing the deuces...It might behoove
you to learn the game and play it...
The fact that every time you held cards to a royal that one of those
cards would pop up in the first position is not unusual. I have
experienced that in many casinos across the country...
I think Bob Dancer or Dean Zamzone would be able to tell you how
likely it is.

Just an FYI...a few years back I remember reading in Strictly Slots
that when Barona got real Video Poker machines (it may have been when
they opened) Bob Dancer went there and gave his approval (certified)
the machines...

I'm glad SOMEONE"s winning on these barely 99-100% games.
I would 'hit and run'. (Esp. playing $1 levels).

With only .1% cb as a 'cushion' - that ain't much.
I dissed Barona ever since they took out their Chinese food - none
even offered in the food courts.
Occaisional bounceback cash mailers - but seem to be on a random basis.
Too many dwg. promos for me- I hates 'em.
