Does anyone understand the Caesars Fuel Savings thing? They keep sending me emails. Is it more trouble than it is worth?
Fuel Savings?
I signed up and got the card from Shell in the mail a few days later. Linking it to my Caesars account was easy. Shell keeps encouraging me to link to a MasterCard and other vendors but I have not bothered. Whatever I get is via the Caesars link.
I don’t understand exactly how the credits are calculated. I seem to get multiple credits from one day’s play with several email notices over time. It may be that when tier bonuses or point multipliers are later added it triggers another event (worth 10 cents a gallon).
In any case, even though my car holds only 10 gallons, I’ve saved $5 twice on fill-ups at no cost to me. Of the many Shell stations in my area (Baltimore metro) some are only a little more expensive than the cheap options, so with the discount it has been a good deal.
If it hadn’t been easy, I wouldn’t have bothered, but for what it took to set up it’s been a small but nice bonus. If you are a fairly frequent player at Caesars’ properties, it will likely be of some use to you.
.
The program is fairly easy and straight-forward.
You can find my post about it here:

If there is a Shell station convenient to you, I’d go ahead and sign up. You automatically save 3cents per gallon at participating locations and that amount goes up as you earn additional discounts through various partners (like Total Rewards).
Take Care,
Mark

Three cents a gallon doesn't even get them near same ballpark as, say, Costco.

REPLY: I’ve delayed signing up for the discount because I fear that it will turn out to be yet another of Caesars’ concealed “trip traps.” Can you (or anyone else who’s used the deal) confirm that it’s safe to touch?
Thanks.

< sorry, couldn’t resist ;). A fair amount of caution is warranted with any new CZR program, but speaking frankly, there’s nothing about this promo that should have raised fear of a “trip trap”. >

Using the discount will not trigger a ‘trip’. Your play will trigger it of course.
Also, you need to earn 500 Tier Credits, not 500 RCs, for each 10 cent discount.

The plan isn’t going to make financial sense for everyone.
The 3 cents per gallon is without doing anything, though. No need to purchase a membership.
If you take advantage of the various FRN partnerships you can save a lot more. I saved 80 cents per gallon a few days ago. It made a big difference. It helps that a number of Shell stations are conveniently located near me.
3 cents certainly isn’t worth going out of your way for, but is 50 cents worth the trip? How about 20 cents?
What if it is typically on your way?
Take Care,

You can tell I have a relatively short-term memory … I’ve forgotten that there was a time where RC <> TC on my play
