Frugal Fridays column

Of course Las Vegas is becoming more risque. Las Vegas has always
been that place in the desert where you could go to be naughty. That
why it's there; that's why it is where it is.

The attempts to turn LV into something that it never could be, such
as a family destination, were horrible errors. LV will never have a
cultural scene because it isn't wanted. Those who want art museums
and symphony orchestras will stay in LA, SF, and NYC where those
things can be found. Moving here and fighting the
gambling/partying/decadence culture is like moving to Aspen and then
complaining about all the people walking around carrying skis.

And as far as the "naked girls on billboards" debate, well,
obscenity is a subjective term. I personally enjoy the sight of
beautiful half-naked women. I see nothing "obscene" about them at
all. This sort of thing is only "obscene" if your particular moral
mindset sees sex, and the suggestion of it, as something shameful,
dirty, and WRONG. Our society is about three hundred years behind
the rest of the planet in this regard.

You want immorality? Al-Jazeera broadcasting live footage of people
having their heads cut off (and the rebraodcast of such footage by
the world media). Now, THAT'S obscene. THAT'S immoral. Give me a
pair of uncovered tits anytime, rather than shocking and nauseating
me with THOSE images!

Well said. But take it a step further. Give us the freedom to see
girls completely uncovered without having to go to the Palomino to
enjoy an alcoholic beverage at the same time. This is Vegas; I want
naked women and full-pay VP all in one location!!
