Frugal Fridays - Casino Security

Another safe option after a big win - a casino safe deposit box.

If you're staying in a casino hotel, the hotel usually provides safe
deposit boxes for their guests free of charge.

The box may help you in two ways. Not only will your jackpot
funds be safer, but perhaps you won't be as likely to tap into it as
you might be if the funds were readily available.

A safe deposit box near Registration is one thing.

You still need to be really careful with a large win. Someone I know stayed at the Aladdin in the same tower (and elevator bank) as the London Club (when it was still the London Club). While she was a guest there, she called Security to alert them to someone who was trying to break into guest rooms. When she couldn't provide a good description, she suggested that Security "rewind the tape" and look at the footage. Security told her that they didn't have video survellence of guest hallways.

Seems like only the bad guys knew this.

If I really had a lot of money (like that mythical $4k win), and I didn't either valet park or get a check, I'd ask for a Security escort.

Hi Lainie,

It's really difficult for me to believe that your friend was told
the truth, in the situation you describe below. IMO, someone staying
in the same tower where the posh London Club was located, would find
many survelliance cameras in the immediate vicinity.

Last July, I posted a message regarding a frightening experience
related to me by a friend. This occured last year, at a downtown
hotel, far less fancy than the Aladdin. This hotel definitely had
security cameras on every guest floor. My friend was also told that
ALL hotels had cameras installed, on each floor, for guest
protection (as well, I'm sure, to cut down on their own liability
exposure).

My friend's awful experience is too long to repeat here, but is
detailed in msg.#45366.

Thanks Babe. I've also wondered about that, but the question that keeps coming back to me is, "Why would Security tell my friend a lie that made her feel unsafe in the property and not want to walk around with cash -- or other valuables -- there?"

Hi Lainie,

I Have absolutely NO idea!

If I were a professional fiction writer, I could probably come up a
scenario featuring some impropriety or lax security, on the part of
the casino, which was caught on film, by their own camera. Therefore,
not wanting to share this knowledge with their guest, for fear of bad
publicity or a potential lawsuit, they didn't admit to the existance
of the hallway cameras.

This is nothing but imaginative supposition on my part. I have no
knowledge whatever of the security system at the Aladdin. It's just
that commonsense would dictate that, in an area inhabitated by high
rollers, the hotel would have EXTRA security, not less!
