From vpFREE:

"Elliot Shapiro, a long time member of the VP message boards passed away
on 3/22/2006."

He also posted here - although on few occasions. He was a good, fair
and straightforward guy, and at 79 you'd think he'd go on and on
forever if you've ever met and chatted with him. I've always been
concerned that he was shortening his life by spending so much time
every day inside the casinos and I told him that. Unlike many on vpfree
who chime in with empty condolences just to look good, a few moments
ago I talked to his wife a bit. It seems his body just gave out & gave
up very quickly. The undeniable truths remain on this forum. Elliot,
RIP.

Very true. I've sat next to him many times and he even had nice things
to say about Rob.

I also did a little programming job he wanted to discover the payback
of the 5 aces game when it came out. In return, he put me on to a
couple of good plays.

He was much sharper than almost anyone I've ever met his age. I suspect
the mental requirements of VP may have had something to do with it.

He will be missed.
