Fremont & MSS combined club

I'm leaving Thurs night for 3 nights at the Fremont. (I've got some
friends going to the String Cheese Incident Halloween concerts; the
mailed Fremont offer of 1 free room & 2nd room casino rate was my
best offer to accommodate all of us.)

My plan was to play a minimum of $2K/day at the Fremont in order to
keep the offers coming & get some free food for me & friends. But I'm
wondering whether the "combined" club changes anything. For instance,
if I spread my play between the Fremont & MSS, will that reduce my
future offers or my chances of comp food this trip? If I spend a day
gambling at MSS, will that result in better mailed offers etc from
MSS than putting through the same amount at Fremont?

I'm a low roller, but could conceivably play $4 or so in a day. My
interest is in getting good room offers & as much free food as
possible. Any advice is appreciated.

We haven't stayed at the Fremont since they combined their slot clubs
but have stayed there several times in the past. We found them to be
very generous with rooms and meals but fairly tight on cashback. We
are mostly quarter players yet they issued us a gold card good for
food and beverage at any of their restaurants including the most
excellent 2nd St Grill. The same card gets us full comps at the other
Boyd casinos as well -- MSS and the Cal (but not Sam's Town) including
the best restaurants. BTW the 777 Brew Pub in MSS is a great place
for lunch.

It is my 'gut' feeling it would be better to concentrate most your
play at one casino. Also suggest getting extra slot cards in your
name and give them to your friends. Unless, of course, they are
trying to get established there as well.

Unlike some other places, the Fremont starts your daily average play
the hour you check in and closes when you check out. You could be
there 36 hours over a three day period but they would only count it as
1 1/2 days -- not 3 days.

Good luck and have a great time.

Please let me know how I might go about getting a gold card. I've
been going to Fremont for years, & this coming trip will be at least
the 3rd time I've used their mailed offers. I only play about
$2K/day, but when I go to the slot club & they see that play level,
they've been very quick & generous with food comps. I could of course
increase my play level if free food hung in the balance.

So... do you have any info on how much I'd need to play for a gold
card, & also who to ask? At the Fremont, is it sufficient for me to
ask for my food comps from the club booth, or will I get something
better by asking for a slot host? I'll be there this weekend on the
mailed offer (one free room, one casino rate) with 4 friends, & I'd
like to get us all some free buffets etc if possible.

Thanks,

Gold cards at Fremont/MSS/Cal usually take about
$7500/day in my experience.A silver card can be had
for around $5000/day. Getting a gold/silver card
requires the use of a host and then only after you
have an established play amount for a few trips.

I expect it will require quite a bit more than $2K per day to reach
gold card status. They do have a silver card for lower level play
which gets you into any of the coffee shops and buffets. My wife and
I play several hours a day; we are on the same account and our gold
card is for 2 people.

Best way to find out what is required is to ask a host. Check in with
Bennett Sabin (sp?) and she can give you all the info.

I don't know how the new combined slot clubs will affect their policy,
but the hosts did have a lot of discression about comps. I find it is
always better to ask a host for comps rather than personnel at the
slot booth.

For MSS at least the requirements are as follows:

5K avg coin-in per day = Silver level

8,500 avg coin-in per day = Gold level

There is a suttle requirement for establishing a history of about 3 trips
before getting into these levels.
As a teaser there is a hawaiian pkg which includes free rooms and some food
coupons. Amazingly, these coupons can be used even at Stardust but I think
the Silver and Gold cards can not.

Appologies in advance if the question is inappropriate, but I've
asked in other forums and no one had any data to share. What are the
rooms at the Fremont like and does the hotel have any suites? I'm
staying on what appears to be an easy to get 4 free nights offer.
I'm going mid-November and I'm not sure what to expect. Any info
would be appreciated.

Scott K in Cincy

Scott,

The standard rooms are very small. The king or 2 queen beds take up
most of the floor space. The bathroom is about the size of a closet.
But, hay, we don't go to Las Vegas to stay in the room. The rooms
are clean and beds comfortable. What more do we need.

Yes they do have suites. The last few times we stayed in the Fremont
they put us up in a mini-suite. They are about the size of two
standard rooms -- a living area with TV, couch, table, couple chairs,
etc., the same bathroom mentioned above, and a standard size bedroom
with another TV. Only one A/C services both rooms and it can hardly
keep up in hot weather but shouldn't be a problem this time of year.

Personally I like the Fremont. We have stayed there so much we call
it our home away from home. They have a fairly decent buffet (ask for
a line pass) and a couple good restaurants -- Tony Roma's and Second
St Grill.

I also like downtown where you can just stroll from one casino to
another. Security is everywhere, we feel safer there than on the
strip. I like the Fremont St Experience shows and the street
entertainers. But most of all, I like gambling there. Their
customers are definitely different from the strip. These are gamblers
not families out on a "resort" vacation.

Of course Lucky Lucy doesn't agree. She likes the Bellagio and the
'V'. Guess she has gone highfaluten in her old days.

Have a great trip.

Rick, thanks very much for the reply.

The times that I've had a suite at the Fremont it's always been behind a
bank of elevators and pretty noisy. I now request "no suite" there and also
at MSS because their suites are on the freeway side of the building.
Suites are pretty much wasted on me as I spend so little time in the room so
unless my wife is with I prefer a standard room. If I am alone I usually
leave the "Do not disturb" sign on the door and only have the room made up
every couple of days.

This is how the system worked before the combined slot club, but I
would guess it still is the same.

For $500 Coin In you get breakfast buffet for 2 daily, or dinner
buffet for 2 M and Th only. These 2 days are the $10 buffet days.
However, if you want a buffet on the other 5 days ($12 or $15) be
prepared to play $2000 CI. Go figure. The comps are always for 1 or 2,
the CI is the same. If you can't manage the $2000 CI, you can still
get a comp to the Panda Express for $500. For any of these comps,
just go to the slot club and ask. I've never used a host since I've
only played the minimum of $1000 per day to get the free room offers.
A host might write a comp at Tony Romas for 2K CI.

I doubt if I'll stay/play here again unless I get confirmation that 1K
per day still generates the room offers and doesn't look bad to the
hosts at MSS and the Cal, where I always average 4K.
