fremont hotel experience

Just got back from a 3 night stay at the Fremont from Wed 11/16 through 11/19 checkout. My offer was only good through Thurs. night but was given the Casino rate for Friday at $55.00. When I booked it I was told my level of play would determine whether I could get Friday night comped, but it sounded like I had a pretty good chance. WRONG ! I ran $10,000 coin in over a 3 night stay and that wasn't enough for Tom Sheehan to approve and the hosts can't make such a call unless their magic formula is reached. Won't be staying at the Fremont again. Actually there are better places who might even appreciate the business. Things sure are changing at the Boyd properties and certainly not for the better. Just got an offer in the mail today from Fremont and again their 4 nights are only sunday - thursday.
At least I had a positve trip, gambling wise, but not at the Fremont, it was elsewhere.

Jim,

Maybe a little perspective on your plight? If you ran $10,000 through the machines over three days that is an average of $3333.33 a day, right? This is not enough to generate comps even at the Fremont unless you have some history with them that is much higher than that.

With room occupancy rates over 95% all over LV, the small players are getting squeezed harder and harder whan it comes to rooms. Look at the Palms, the big strip properties, Orleans, none of them have trouble filling rooms at rack rates most of the year. That means that us cheapskates who don't want to spend on a room are driven to places like the Fremont, which drives their occupancy levels even higher.

Get used to it, this will only get worse for the low roller. Look at the development that is poised to occur on the North Strip. Traditional low roller places being replaced by billion dollar properties in the next few years. Where are us little guys gonna go? Jerry's Nugget?

Reno, Laughlin anyone?!

Golden Bearpa,

Thanks for your perspective on my plight at the Fremont. The main thing that bothered me was the night before checkout I had a hostess check my play and she figured I only needed to run throgh $2-3,000 more to qualify for comping all 3 nights. After I ran through that amount I was told I now needed to run through considerably more. On my last trip I was told $2000 per day would get 4 nights comped Sun - Thrus. If you wanted to include weekends, one had to average $2500 per day. Obviously those requirements are now outdated. Oh for the good old days !

We just returned from a trip to Las Vegas and we also stayed at the
Fremont but over the weekend. They downgraded us from 'Gold Card'
status to 'Silver' so you are correct, things are changing and not for
the better. A host told us they had changed the formula for
determining status. The place is a dump, do yourself a favor and find
other accomodations.
