Fremont and Fitzgeralds buffets

My wife and I tried the Fitzgeralds buffet a couple years ago and had the same experience. We were not on a comp. We tried to fill our plates, took one bite, complained to the manager, and left without paying. At that time, they had my vote for the worst buffet anywhere, ever. I've heard that they've improved, but we won't go back to find out.

The Fremont, on the other hand, has a very good buffet. I feel it's a bit overpriced relative to other downtown fare, but we like it when we get twofers. Don't know about their current comp policies.

     Crappy food must be Fitzgerald corporate policy. Some years back I
had a comp to the coffeeshop inflicted on me at their Reno outlet.
Easily, it was the worst Nevada meal I've ever had.

     Those free pens they used to give out, on the other hand, will
outlive our species.

Fitzgeralds did have some nice perks, at least under the old owner, but the food was definitely NOT one of them. I got a boom box last year for only 3 O'Lucky Bucks, a cute Mr. O'Lucky stuffed doll, and a bunch of imitation Beanie Babies and phone cards for my family _ in addition to three free room nights any time I wanted them.
   I haven't heard "boo" from them since the new owners took over. I used to be on their free-rooms-for-life list, but don't know my status now. Anyone know how they comp these days?
   I also heard the buffet improved recently, but I'm not willing to try it.

Hi Elaine,

I just got my first mailing since the new club took over. It's for a
New Year's Eve party, no room attached. (Not that I'd want one -
tried that on a recent trip, and ran for Harrah's as quickly as I
could.)

Regarding the food, though: I've received several offers for dinner
at the steakhouse, and finally used one in September. It was very
good food and service, though I didn't actually eat steak. (They do
have good fettucini, so there are probably other meatless meals that
you might like.)

2 for 1 buffet offer which i would only use after observing buffet patrons for 1 hour. <g>
