Most Harrah's VP tournaments are played on standard 9-6 DDB games. Usually five minutes and you play as many hands as you can with on credits won counted. You play as fast as possible and they often use a qualifier plus final. If so, play fast and play everything for quads (or the royal). If it is a group of 20 with 2 qualifying each round you usually will need an 800 credit hand (or two 400 credit hands) to be sure of advancement. If you hit one early then you should probably play normal after that. In IL tournaments used to always have "live action" but that may not be true anymore.
I was invited to a free video poker tournament this October @ Harrrahs in Joliet. I have never played in a tournament and thought it might be fun. Could someone please explain to me how they work and what games are usually played? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks. Evelyn.
