Does anyone know of a casino that does not allow you to
use awarded free play on a video poker machine?

Recently a local casino restricted your free play to only
a few selected slot machines. You get weekly free play
based upon your established level of play, but now you
can only use the free play on a few selected slot machines.

Ironically, and unlike many casinos, you do earn cash
back on your free play and also the free play is eligible
to be multiplied during the double and triple multiplier
periods. Also, video poker cash back is earned at the same
rate as on any slot machine.

Until recently free play was not allowed on a few machines
that had full pay JoB and NSUD. This was a total of 14
machines in the whole casino.

It seems to be a ridiculous decision and an overreaction
to something since many of their other rules seem liberal.
The amount of free play minimum is based upon card level
with higher adjustment apparently on other factors within
your card level.

Yes. Not too many months after the Hard Rock in Biloxi, MS opened, they changed their programming so that free play would no longer work on any of their video poker machines. Also, I don't think free play now works on VP machines at the Island View in Gulfport, MS either.

I had assumed that this restriction is not completely unknown in other areas of the country.

Sahara doesn't allow free play on their VP machines with better odds (which earn 1/3 pts). I had to use some lower-paying VP machines.

At Bellagio (MGM), I was unable to use my 2009 Holiday free play on some VP machines. The players club said I should have been able to use it, but I tried 2 different types of machines with no luck. When I tried a dedicated blackjack machine (not the mixed VP & blackjack), it worked.

The casino switched free play to be eligible on only some
slot machines and absolutely on no machine with any video
poker. Before the switch they would allow free play only
on some of their lower ER video poker machines. "eecounter"
(in message 105141) did mention a couple of Mississippi
casinos that have a rule similar to this casino. I thank
him for that information and also your response. So far
this "slot only" policy seems to be rare and also surprisingly paranoid or silly. Many of the eligile video poker machines
were seriously "shorted" and that was assuming with perfect
play
