<<Was it standard to tip only 10% back in 1976? Or was the El just being
cheapo?
In the 60's fun books contained tickets for a free rolls of nickels and
free (not 421's) meals. In the 70's I was told that the waitresses
complained that the people that received free meals did not tip. A 10% tip
was added to the ticket. In the late 70's I was told that the waitresses
wanted the tip raised to 15%. The casinos felt that they could not afford to
give a free meal and pay for the tip. The free meals w/tip ended.
