I would welcome other's impressions of the new site.
1. I have manually updated the old DataBase continuously since it
started, and have been looking for a better, searchable,
decentralized vehicle for several years.
2. The new vpFREE2 database is "THE" replacement, and it does an
excellent job of searching and displaying the search results.
3. All of the data that was in the old DataBase was
electronically transferred to the new database, however some of
it is now mis-labeled and / or mis-interpreted by the new
database.
4. The vpFREE2 database needs a lot of software work to fix the
bugs, correct errors and implement desirable feedback
suggestions.
5. The vpFREE2 administrators expected these problems and are
working very hard to fix the bugs, train monitors and keep the
database updated during this transitional period.
6. vpFREE2 will probably have update problems until they get the
bugs fixed and have a volunteer casino monitor for every casino.
7. The old DataBase is permanently retired and I am permanently
out of the database business.
8. I am not involved administratively (or any other way) with
vpFREE2, other than serving as a casino monitor.
9. There have been two vpFREE Administrators. I founded vpFREE in
DEC 2001 and served as administrator until SEP 2005. The
anonymous administrator served from SEP 2005 until MAR 2009, and
I am now the administrator again.
10. The vpFREE forums will always be free as long as I'm
associated with vpFREE, and I don't have any retirement plans.
11. From vpFREE Rules and Policies: "NON-PROFIT: vpFREE is, and
will always remain, a non-profit operation. Neither vpFREE nor
the vpFREE Administrator has any financial interest, direct or
indirect, in any commercial video poker related product or
endeavor."
12. I don't have a problem with ads (or donations) on vpFREE2, as
long as access is free for everyone. If vpFREE2 ever charges an
access fee, I would remove all vpFREE links to it.
13. I would like to see many changes in the vpFREE2 format, which
I've told them about, such as:
a. Access for everyone to all of vpFREE2, without having to log-in.
b. Many appearance changes so that it looks more like the old
DataBase.
c. A detailed, on-site job description and updating procedures
for casino monitors.
d. Indication of whether or not a casino has a monitor, on the
regional index pages and on the individual casino pages.
14. I am optimistic that the bugs will be fixed soon and that the
vpFREE2 database will be a valuable asset for all vpFREE members.
I urge everyone to help by sending feedback on the appropriate
vpFREE2 contact form and by volunteering as a casino monitor.
