I got cleared to put out a message immediately, and my article will be
in GT on Tues. So if it's OK with you it's OK with me to post this
private msg. on vpfree.

---------------------------------------------------------

I got a call from the VP of slots this morning. There's 9 machines up
and running. Each is 25c/50c/$1 8/5 BP, 9/6 JB, 10/7 DB, FPDW, & 10/6
DDB, and they are exactly as I specified. There will be no signs over
them (they'll hardly be needed), and a memo is going out tonight to all
floor personnel as to the locations of the machines, so when customers
ask they can direct.

The machines are located as follows: A bank of 5 near the dice pit on
one end of the casino; and a bank of 4 at the other end outside the
high-limit slots area and near Red 8 restaurant.

I had a slot shift manager read me every detail of the machines so
there would be no questions.

Good luck to all--RS

What? No 101% joker?

He also forgot the 17/10 Loose Deuces (plus 3X points on weekends) in high limit.

While at the Cannery last night, we were told that the latest Microsoft Virus had hit The Cannery. They weren't sure if the points earned yesterday would be added on correctly to our accounts. Also, we noticed the buffet could not accept credit cards as well. Has anyone been to The Cannery today? Have there been problems at other casinos due to the virus?

It probably hit the 9 new machines at the Wynn too.

The Rampart also was struck by the worm on late Tuesday night-early
Wednesday morning. I went inside, saw all the candles flashing, saw
the shutdown message on one of their computers, and walked out the
door without playing a machine. Went to the Suncoast for their 2X
points day; now I have a dispute with them because apparently the
points did not double.

I can't believe that casinos would have machines critical to gaming operations left open on the Internet sufficiently to be affected by an Internet worm... i mean, a $400 firewall box will completely protect them from stuff like that, and if a simple worm could get in and disrupt their system, imagine what a determined hacker could do....

I was at the Suncoast around noon yesterday and the points did double...

Um... If anyone out there is determined, add a few thousand points to my accounts please.

As it turned out, my account is correct, although it really didn't
show until after midnight Wednesday. Which is one of my pet peeves
with the Suncoast; when I played on Tuesday at the Orleans, the 2X
points were showing right on the meter. But at the Suncoast (owned by
the same freaking company), they seem unable to offer the same
feature. Thus, the state of technology in 2005 in one big happy casino
family still shows some glitches.

double...
