FPDW vs Loose Deuces

I uaually play FPDW, but yesterday a lady sitting next to me was playing
Loose Deuces, I thought it was FPDW until she hit 4 deuces and received a
$625 payoff (quarter machine).

I was intrigued by this and switched to Loose Deuces. I immediately noriced
the difference in pay table for 4 of a kind, 4 coins instead of 5 on FPDW. There
might have been others, but I decided to try it anyway and after a while, I too
hit four ducks for the $625 pay off. I think I may be hooked.
Will some one familiar with these two games, and proficient in math, please
post the EV for the two games.

from http://members.cox.net/vpfree/Gloss.htm :

Deuces Wild FP = 1-2-2-3-5-9-15-25-200-800 (100.76% - 25.8 VAR).

Loose Deuces Wild FP = 1-2-2-3-4-8-15-25-500-800 (100.15% - 70.7 VAR).

LDW has a lower EV and a higher variance.

You have a 1% chance of ultimately losing $8900 at FPDW compared to $135,000 for loose deuces (quarter game).

I know the lure well. On my very first all-VP trip to LV after reading some of the books, I was
playing $.50 Loose Deuces (way over my head and with no strategy adjustments from
FPDW--I didn't know any better back then) I hit two sets of ducks and received two W-2G's in
less than 8 hours. My luck on that particular game has never returned, so I have joined the
ranks that refer to it as Not So Loose Deuces.

You are SO RIGHT, Drew! I also was enticed by the $625 deuces
payoff at quarters, to the detriment of my bankroll. Though I have
hit 4 deuces several times on Loose Deuces, overall it has been a
loser for me.

Against all odds, the Loose Deuces machine that cost me the most
money, was that beauty at Fitzgerald's, in downtown LV, that had
the super high pay scale. It was changed to a nickle machine, but
it previously was .25 denom. It was an old style coin-dropper, that
was always jamming, and needed the constant attention of a slot
mechanic. It didn't even have a bill acceptor, and had to be
laboriously hand-fed. As irritating as it was to play, I was never
able to discipline myself to walk past the Fitz w/o buying $100 in
quarters, and feeding them all in. After the $100 was played through
once, I quit the machine for that session. Never, in over 20 tries,
did I hit the deuces. Most of the time, I lost at least $60.00,
even though the EV was over 101%. I have no trouble by-passing the
Fitz these days, as I'm not too interested in single line nickles.
I'm not even sure that the machine has survived.

I have been more fortunate while playing Loose Deuces at Fiesta
Henderson & Fiesta Rancho, and at the PEPP in Reno, but not enough
to overcome my overall losses at that game.

The old 17/10 LD (101.6 ev) at Fitzgeralds was still there on our last trip. We always play it a little for nostalgic reasons when we are downtown. It is on the second floor in a corner and does have a dollar bill feeder. We too have never hit the 4 ducks when it was 25c or now 5c! I remember when the Reserve had a whole bank of 25c 17/10 loose deuces. Did hit the 4 ducks on them.
