FPDW Prog. & The New Frontier Misc.

My wife and I were at The New Frontier from 7/31 to 8/4. I was
expecting to have to wait for a seat at the 5-machine FPDW
progressive---it turns out that seats were available at any time.
Now I see they have been removed---probably for lack of play. While
we were there, the meter moved from $1006 to $1018, most of that
funded by our play. I only saw two other people play on these
machines for a maximum of 20 minutes.

Some time ago, someone asked why this place gets no respect.
Possible answers are: (1) it's kind of dumpy---it's just old school
compared to other places; (2) the strike went on for what seemed
like a decade probably turned a lot of people away; (3) nobody wants
to establish "roots" at the next place to be imploded; (4) the
buffet is always listed on the worst 10 list in LV [but I'll defend
it since a salad, some fruit, and a little dessert is perfect for
me].

There have been numerous downgrades in the VP inventory, most
notably changing the $1/$5 9/6 JoB (double pay for quad 7's) to 8/5--
-they were our favorites. Now the number of $1 JoB machines has
been reduced to only 6, and according to a techie, they are on their
way out. I did talk to the slot director once, but he's one of
those people that doesn't understand that a small hold percentage on
a lot of money is more revenue than a larger percentage of nothing
(this was just after the FPDW went down the first time).

Someone else asked why would you ever play a game such as JoB when
FPDW is available. One possible answer: your wife didn't have time
to practice FPDW and you would rather sit by her than increase your
EV (Oh man, and it isn't even close to Annibirthtine's Day).

And for your entertainment, I thought I had a surefire winner for
the dumbest play I've ever seen, but I can't pick between these two:
(1) Playing $0.25 9/6 JoB (double pay for quad 7's), a lady held two
4's and a 7 kicker---before I could roll my eyes, she hit Deal/Draw,
and of course pulled up a 4 and a 7 for a full house.
(2) One of these same machines had a 4, a 6, a 7, and a 9 HELD on
its last game. No, they were of the same suit, they weren't even of
the same color. Even if there was a 4, 6-9 promo on at the time,
these machines were excluded from it.

My best luck came at the Cash Grab drawing, where I was lucky enough
to get 4 extra 20-second periods and ended up with $225 cash, $235
at Macy's, and 2400 points.
