I'm not a local, but travel to LV once a month or so from So.Cal. Being involved heavily in the stock market I see a lot of comparisons to FP VP.
The world, and that includes LV <G>, is still a supply and demand driven economy. As I see posts of more FP machines being taken away, other casinos have even added a few.
If the casinos that lower the pay tables get less and less play, they WILL see it on the bottom line. They will hear the whispers in the wind of other casinos flourishing.
IMHO locals contribute a substantial amount of the coin-in, hence all the various promotions to get your business. If you boycott casinos dropping FP machines, and do it with a polite comment to hosts such as, "I'll be back to play here when/if the casino decides to match XXX casino's policy of having better pay tables."
Some casinos may act indifferent and seem to not care. In time they WILL see the effects and slowly bring back some, if not more, FP machines. So, rather than threatening picket signs, or ranting and raving in posts, the best and most simple procedure is to quit playing and professionally let the hosts know why you are leaving.
My two-cent's worth.
