Foxwoods or Mohegan?

I'm sure this has been gone over many times in this forum.. I'm new to the area, play a lot of Video Poker in Vegas. Which is the better casino for VP right now? Who has the best mailers, promos etc? And what are the best games to play in each? According to vpfree it seems like Mohegan is better, lots of pickem and 9/6 JOB. Do you get good offers for playing those? Any help would be appreciated. =)

I haven't been to Foxwoods in years, and my "home" casino is the Sun, so what follows is biased by that. VP at MS is plentiful, as indicated in the VPFree2 database. Except for the FP PEM machines, $180 coin-in = 1 point in comp $. Those 16 or so machines are $270 in for 1 point.

Points accumulate pretty rapidly, and can be used for rooms, food shopping, etc. Accumulating points gets you to various levels of club membership, but even without making the 1st tier level, Wolf, you do get free play offers. ~$10 free play a couple of times a month, usually on specific days, or within a period of a few days. Depending on what level you make, you can get free show tickets ( definitely at Sagamore, or perhaps Wolf, not sure, neither the bride or I have ever been Wolf) and discounted or free rooms, with the usual stratification, free/discount weekdays, some weekends, all the time depending on play.

Now is a particularly good time to start, as there is a six-month period for level qualification, April -September and October -March. 800 points per six months = Wolf, 1600 = Sagamore. The highest level Sachem is by invitation from your host at some point level/avg play criteria that is not published or even really specified verbally. An approximation would be something north of 4000-4500 points with a daily average of somewhere around 200 or more points.

Sagamore players also get full access to 3 players lounges, one of which is open 24/7. They do get crowded, and sometimes access is limited due to the crowding, but have decent snack food offerings, free beverages, etc. Wolf players can get in Sun-Fri, with "restrictions"

I suspect there is some differentiation in offers based on what games you play, and the resulting theo, but if you get up to Sagamore, you can expect $75 to over $100 in free play several times a month, free rooms "on select dates", free entertainment, etc.

Based on personal experience, the Sun treats you better than comparable levels at Harrah's for example. equating HET Diamond to Sagamore.
Having a host is helpful, and I think that kicks in at Sagamore, as they can sometimes get you things the regular call-in people will tell you are sold out. As with any casino, the level of your host ties in with how much power they can exert to get you stuff.

Hope this helps, and good luck

One other point I forgot to mention, although it is strictly anecdotal in nature: when I talk to other comparable level players, in the lounges or at parties & events, for example, without exception, if they either play at both casinos, or have previously played at Foxwoods, they all say that the Sun is far superior in all respects. Perhaps if one were to sample people at Foxwoods, they would say the opposite, but what I've heard is unanimous.

Thanks, I appreciate the feedback.. I see there's 20 $1 Pickems. How crowded are these usually? If I go down on a weekend with someone will we be able to get at them easy enough?

If your gambling at Pickem then 1600 points every six months is somewhat south of a million dollars action/year which would get you seven stars at Harrah's.
Hopefully 9/6 JB will remain available. That play "only" requires about $600K/year for Sagamore. The 99% Bonus VP is getting you into dangerous gambling territory. Don't get me wrong, MS is still a fair bet (for now).

But I long for the days when Sachem rating could be had for half of what Sagamore now takes. And all the tournaments, drawings, dinners, and concerts! That was sweet.

Can someone tell me the exact benefits of Wolf and Sagamore ratings? Do you get good freeplays and things like that?

Haven’t been in awhile but the Pickems are usually very crowded. The last time I tried playing them, a few months ago, was on a Thursday night and all were taken. Teams actually were “locking-up” machines – one person taking over when another left. I decided it wasn’t worth it any more.

At the $1 level only the pick-em in the old poker room are full pay. They are short pay everywhere else. All .25 and $5 are short pay.

On my last visit to Foxwoods two weeks ago to take my wife and daughter to a show, I could not find any full pay Vp at any level for any game. I was also told at Player's Booth that VP is now $240 a point.

Even with the down grades, there is still lots of full pay VP at the $1 level and up aT Mohegan.

Does anyone know if the 8/5 BP at the quarter level still exist?
I tried looking last week and could not find any. One machine in the Hall of Lost tribes I know was 8/5 at the .25 level and it had been downgraded to 6/5.
Also in your opinion what is the best play at the .25 level?

Thanks Joel. I thought that only some of the $ machines in the old poker room were FP.
I'm still waiting to see if 9/6 Jacks makes its way to the casino floor.

They do still exist. There are some right outside of the Hall of Lost Tribes to the section to your left. They are Bally uprights they all have 8/5 BP .25. There is also some in the non smoking in Sky the green dome which are also 8/5 BP at .25 & .50 level also Bally's but slant tops.

Hi,

From the post below I see that there are FP BP machines in the non smoking green dome in the Casino of the Sky; does anyone know if there are any other FP VP in non smoking areas at MS? While I prefer the "activity" in the traditional MS areas, but my allergies sometimes get the best of me and it would be nice to spend a session or two playing FP VP in a non smoking area.

Thanks and good luck to all,
Mike

I'm not a fan of HET but if my Math is correct playing some of the 99% other than PE means that Sagamore requires more than 5x coin in than HET Diamond does.( Sag= $576K/yr. Diamond $110K/yr.)
