Foxwoods Flu!

I took the bus to Foxwoods yesterday, arrived 20 minutes late due to
snow flurries! When the Foxwoods host gave us our cupons she stated
that the Keno booth near the bing hall was closed..Go to the Rainmaker
keno booth, that one is open. When I got to the Festival casino..it was
closed off. Security person stated that there wasn't enough employees
to man the casino. This is the casino where the full pay Sigma machines
are. The security person stated that the Rainmaker casino was open. I
asked the keno cashier at Rainmaker about the closings and she stated
that an unusual ammount of casino personell had called out due to
the "WEATHER". snow flurries! I went for a walk around..The Great
Cedars casino was also closed..I asked the securty guard if it would be
opening today..He said they hope to have enough personell to open
around noon. The bar that near the old poker room that has bartop
machines was open, but no bartender! I was told that I was welcome to
play the machines..but no bar srevice. Many of the stores were closed
too. At 5PM the Festival casino was opened..All of the Sigma machines
were up & running..I didn' read anything in the local papers about
another planned sick out, but... All of my local play will go to the
Sun from now on!

"I" had the FOXWOODS FLU 5 years ago--they have been pulling this stunt for years!!
This is one of the many many complaints on this second rate run gin joint. I haven't been
there for five years and don't miss it a bit. Mohegan Sun is by far and away superior in
service, comps, atmosphere, personnel, machine payouts (vp%of payback), shopping,
entertainment, and I have yet to see them "shut down" - Foxwoods is a joke, they
wouldn't have a prayer if they were operating in Las Vegas, this place sure prooves
one thing for sure bigger in this case is certainly not better. I can't believe MGM is
going in on some deal with Foxwoods, makes me question their integrity.

Foxwoods survives because of two things Mohegan Sun does not have:
poker and bingo, both of which are huge. When playing VP at the
Woods, I frequently run into poker players who play VP during an off
moment between rounds, and also elderly people who frequent the bingo
hall. Unfortunately, the Sun pulled poker out at the worst possible
moment -- when an amateur Chris Moneymaker won the Main Event of the
World Series, and poker interest reached a national all-time high;
the decision though was made months earlier because of
illicit "extracuricular activities". Poker is one activity
where "bigger is better" because of the numerous different games
involved (texas hold'em, stud, omaha, etc.), different levels (no
limit, high limit, low limit), and type (tournament, semi-tournament,
or table stakes). A smaller poker room will not have enough
variations and enough people to cater to everyone's specific
interest. Even in Vegas players have to jump from casino to casino
to find action in a specific game.

Bingo was a Pequot Indian mainstay many years before they ever opened
up Foxwoods casino, albeit for lower stakes, (hence now you see the
term "high-stakes bingo" even though most games are relatively low);
with its headstart, it developed an enormous clientele, (mostly
senior citizens), that also ends up spilling into other areas of the
casino, which is why they have more seniors there; the Sun which had
a hard time pulling the old customers away and for little profit
closed their bingo room.

Care to reveal what these "activities" were ?
