Four To A RF Frequency In JB (att: Bob Dancer)

My question is how often can you expect to see a 4 to a Royal in any given
session at my rate of play?

I don't know that answer but I did a spreadsheet simulation of the frequency
of hitting a Royal if 1/47 chances. Being a non math expert and not too
advanced with spreadsheet formulas I typed an x on column a, row 47 then copied
the first 47 rows down then copied the two rows and so on I stopped at I think
10,000 rows. Then I put a random number in column b row 1 and copied it down
to the 10,000th row. Then I sorted both columns using column b as the sort
field. The longest gap between x's was about 260. So you could go that many 4
to a Royals and not hit. Since doing that I just play and don't worry about
how often I hit a Royal. They happen.

Something I imagined once was for Bob Dancer to have at his video poker
class a long continuous row of paper stretched around the classroom walls with
several lines containing x's and red marks every so often and they would
represent the randomness of video poker hits, from Full Houses up to Royals.
Several hundred thousand games could be represented on a hundred feet of paper or
so and the students could visually see the long term. Not sure If I ever
suggested this to Bob.

OK, this opens the door for me to ask a rhetorical question that
I've refrained from asking until now because someone surely will ask
whether I want cheese with my whine.

I've been playing pretty heavy "tourist-level" VP for 12 years, and
I've NEVER hit a Royal by drawing ONE.

Full Disclosure: I've been OVER-lucked in most other categories,
including total 21 total Royals, which included five Pick Em Royals.

But couldn't a get ONE "Missionary Royal" at JoB or similar before I
die or playable VP disappears completely???

Now I've vented. No need to respond unless someone knows how many
unsuccessful one-card Royal draws = absurd hypothetical
impossibility.

Nonsense! Every player I ever met wants more royals than he/she has
currently received. The players who say they haven't had any yet (or
hasn't yet received one on a particular type of machine) and will be
able to die happy if they just get one quickly change their tune when
the first one comes. And size doesn't matter. I've personally had more
than 250 in the $20,000-or-higher range (including more than 20 for
$100,000) and you can bet that I want more. They are momentarily very
satisfying, but the "thrill" doesn't last. By the time your money gets
there, you feel you are "due" for another.

The other day I hit 2 royals within 18 min of each other. And guess
what, when dealt 4 to a royal 5 min later I was really ready to hit
the third. alas, it was not to be. but Ill tell you what Im in the
hunt for another top line beauty thats for sure.

Incidentally Ive only been dealt one royal in my time here in Vegas
and it was sequential A to T And on a progressive to boot.

My comment was meant to imply something else. It is more difficult
to get a royal in Pickem due to the way the game is played. (my
opinion of coruse) I just meant he should be very happy he got 5 in
Pickem. Not that he should not want anymore. Some of us have never
had one in that particular game, Pickem.
Of course, everyone wants royals. It makes playing more enjoyable.
I am very happy for you with all the royals you have gotten in the
$20,000 + range and I hope you continue great success.

Believe me, I agree. Chalk the miscommunication up to the difficulty
of conveying thoughts perfectly via e-mail.

What you wrote is exactly what I meant in the original post when, in
the "Full Disclosure" paragraph, I acknowledged that I'd
been "overlucked" in other categories.

I do play a disproportionate amount of Pick Em becuase I live in the
Midwest. But, even allowing for the weighted play, my PE results have
when way, WAY above expectation. For example, two $PE Royals on
consecutive days during which I played about three hours each time.
And one $2 PE Royal 30 minutes after a $2 PE SF.

It's just that, as Bob posted, everyone wants WHATEVER it is they have
NOT had -- or, in his case, haven't had lately.

As a matter of pure math and theory, hitting a handful of "draw-one"
JoB Royals "should" have come before my first PE Royal, and LONG
before my second. But I'm not going to swap my overall results for
an "average" package.

JT.. I submitted a photo to the administrator as I was away for a
couple weeks. I needed of all cards the beautiful ace of diamonds
on the last position #5. I learned what Jean Scott had posted that
some machines dont lockup and the player must make the noise when
the fifth card comes. Yes.. they happen.

Lets get some (more!)Royals,
