How can anyone reasonably expect any kind of privacy on a free-to-join forum

with over 6000 members?

I always assume that if I post a comment about a particular person, then
that person will eventually read what I wrote. And if I say something about
a
particular casino, I assume that someone in Management at that casino will
eventually read what I said. These things may not always be true, but
keeping
them in mind when I post is my way of avoiding unnecessary problems.

I agree with your points, but I also agree with the original point
that at the very least, it is not "in the spirit" of this board to
accelerate matters by zipping along personal comments verbatim to
some casino person along with the source. Let's say I wouldn't do it
out of respect. While it may be the poster's fault for putting it
out there, it does not make the "snitch" a blameless angel.

I have to disagree.

There is nothing personal on anything posted here that anybody,
attached to or detached from a casino cannot get access to, just by
subscribing. While I may regret after the fact that I may have posted
something that I should not have, or phrased it poorly, I cannot
request/require anybody from making use of it for good or evil!

If I have something personal (good or bad), I would send a personal
message instead of posting it here, and claiming it to be a personal
message. Which I have done a few times.

Is there a prohibition on any casino person from subscribing to this
forum, openly? I mean, if you receive a subscription request from
TheDonald@TrumpTaj.com, sre there any grounds to deny it?

OTOH, I think vpFREE would like to think all casinos follow the
proceedings of this board assiduously, even if they can't spell that
word. And even institute a change here and there based on what is
said here!

Just to clarify things, in the following sentence in my post

Is there a prohibition on any casino person from subscribing to

from TheDonald@..., sre there any grounds to deny it?

The email address in question is simply madeup (I could as well have
had Steve-at-WinWithWynn-com). It was blanked out perhaps according
to the policy on this forum. What I had there was
The_Donald_at_Trump_Taj_Com - with suitable substitutions. It is, as
far as I know, not a real address.

But may be!

I have to disagree.

The email address in question is simply madeup (I could as well have
had Steve-at-WinWithWynn-com). It was blanked out perhaps according
to the policy on this forum.

Yahoo! Groups wipes out the domain portion of email addresses for
posts carries on the web (I'm not sure, but I think they're left
intact for people receiving posts by email or in email digests). You
can still email the address by clicking on the truncated address -- a
form opens, although you still don't see the full address.

There's a good reason for this. Posts from open groups often pop up
in searches, either from a direct link to the group webpage or as
echoes from other sources. I've seen occasions in the past where full
emails were display, exposing the individual involved to spamming
engines that search the internet for addresses.

You think there is a possibility that I may be slapped with a law suit
by The Donald?

I promise not to file a lawsuit.

Of course you're right. But I wouldn't do it. Personal choice. I
MIGHT say something like I've heard this-and-that from a few people,
but I wouldn't just willy-nilly zing the exact message and poster info
over to casino management or whoever.

Just because anyone CAN subscribe to this board doesn't mean everyone
DOES. People who do go can through the messages and understand posts
in context. People who get snippets or single posts emailed to them
may not. So I feel like sending posts (particularly negative ones)
with the author may do the author some injustice. And the answer
of "too bad, don't go in the kitchen" is the answer normally reserved
for celebrities as a price of fame. I don't think this qualifies.

Just my opinion about this, wherever this message may end up.

Well, I do not know how they get it, but I get anywhere from 8 to 80
spam e mails in my bulk folder every day. I only use this address on
this forum.

Spiders pick up that stuff as they troll through cyberspace, making it a safe bet that
anything you post will eventually end up as public info. You can google e-mail addresses
and find out pretty personal stuff about the people posting on public boards if they use
that address elsewhere.

Yahoo sells its e-mails to whoever wants it. I get about 70 a day just at my yahoo
address, which is used exclusively for this and the VPmail2 lists.

My experience differs ... there's absolutely no evidence that Yahoo!
has ever marketed any email address (Yahoo or otherwise) that I've
used in conjunction with my Yahoo! Groups memberships.

In fact, this is something that has led to me have strong respect for
them. However, I'm not discounting what you've witnessed -- there
clearly is some variable that differs in our accounts.

Is there a chance that you haven't opted out of the appropriate
marketing contacts in your account preferences?

- Harry

Yes, Indeed! I get at least 50+ every day. When I returned from LV
a week ago, I had over 350 spam emails in my bulk folder! I too, only
use this address on this forum.

Thank God for the Yahoo Bulk/Spam Folder.

An year ago, I used to see what's in there, in case something might
be
of interest. There were the usual assortment of diet, get-rich-quick,
cell phone deals, Free Laptops, cheap mortgages, inexpensive
PhD's ...
to just mention the mentionables. Sometime later I stopped looking at
it. Every once in a while the contents get deleted automatically. I
may
be missing on a free XBox, Irish Derby Seepstakes, etc, but that's
the
price that has to be paid.
