It was an interesting mix for the first NFL weekend.
Once upon a time the independant EW sportbook bought all the football
available. Now that Leroys runs the books this is not true. The CB borrowed the
feeds too. The only football available is the local cable signal. There is no
promo at all for CB/EW. Last year there was a strong MNF cash drawing in both
houses.
The Golden Nugget gets all the games. Tarzans has a fine array of flat
screens. The joint was packed. But the special was 12 oz drafts for $2. That
isn't very special. When Tarzans opened a few years ago it was 24 oz drafts for
a buck. A drink ticket could be obtained with a $10 bet too. No more.
The best TV set-up is in Sassy Sues Saloon at the Pioneer. They added some
bigger TVs to their collection of flat screens. It seems they get the NFL
network, but not the whole package. I could not watch the Cardinal/49er game on
opening weekend. But this could have been operator error, the bartender does
not have a clue.
The best MNF promo seems to be at Trop Express for this season. The joint
was packed. The kiosk driven cash drawings are run by
Captian/Admiral/Bobblehead and now Couch Potato Bob. He runs a fine promo. He gave me money over at
the CB Grand Staircase a couple of times several years ago.. TE has a fine PA
system heard throughout the casino. They give away $50 a point. So a
touchdown is worth $300, extra point $50, field goal $150... I found a seat at the
Eclipse bar with their Sam Adams drafts and played Bonus 7/5 4-way progressive
bartops.
Anyone else know what is happening for football season on the river?
