Neil: We were real close. I was at the Palms that evening.
I will definitely try Rinaldo's next trip. My wife and I also give them a fair bit of play when we go on an overnight trip. I'll play the triple plays at full coin for a few hours, and the dollar machines at 3 dollars a play for a few hours, wife plays the dollars for 2 bucks a throw. We will give them about 8 -10 hours play on an overnighter. I am at the Platinum level there, but I have no idea what level of play it takes for their levels.

My personal rating of the three sit-down restaurants is:
The Weirs - quite good
St. Germains - better
Rinaldo's - best
By the way, you don't have to eat Italian at Rinaldo's. They have
some great non - Italian entrees. I had a magnificent filet mignon
there a couple of months ago.
Between my wife and myself, we do play a lot when we're at Rama.
Consequently, we've never had a problem in getting meal comps for
anywhere in the place. In fact, we've treated other couples several
times to dinners at either Rinaldo's or St. Germains, and never
exhausted our meal accounts, ( though, we have come close once or
twice).
As far as crossing paths in Vegas, I guess it didn't happen, unless
you were at the Palms on the 13th. We played at the progressive full
pay deuces wild machines for an hour or so in the early afternoon,
and then had lunch at the buffet.
