FITR

Some years back a Jacks or Better variant called "flush attack"
arrived on the scene, to the merriment of wizened VP players everywhere.
Existing in stand alone and bank versions, players confronted a crippled
jacks pay table...until, that is, three natural flushes had appeared on
the bank. At that point the normal flush payout of 25 coins was
increaased to 125 or so (memory fails me at the moment). It wasn't long
before people figured out that keeping four card flush draws undrawn until
the "Flush Attack" message flashed was a great way to increase the already
high (25%) edge during the bonus round. Various mods and paytables of the
games proceeded over the years, though I think the last of them may have
died out shortly after the turn of the century.

Much of the discussion and work by Steve Jacobs and Jazbo concerning
"min. cost strategies" came about as a direct result of trying to find the
proper way to trigger flushes on the cheap.

Hope this helps. No doubt somebody out their has a few funny FA
stories to share, and hopefully they will.

Now that's funny. I like your wit. But seriously, what does "Flush
Attack" mean in VP vernacular?

If I don't ask the stupid questions, I won't learn the answers.

Thanks.
