Definitely do the following on your first trip to Vegas. Starting about
2:30pm, go into Paris (extra charge - take ride up to top of Eiffel tower if you
want - sometimes see free street performers; living statues), cross street
and see inside the Bellagio. See gardens near hotel check in. Go outside
after 3pm to see Water Fountain show (shows run from 3pm til about midnight).
(You may want to come back to the Bellagio at night for a second show - it is
even better then). Cross street and enter Caesars Palace. Go through and
look (join slot club if you want for a free medallion). Don't miss the
Seahorse bar with real Seahorses (nice place to stop for a cocktail, though not
cheap). Walk through shops to see full-size copy of Michelangelo's David.
Enter Forum Shops, see the 2 moving statues which have hourly shows (best one is
the one further into the forum shops near "Cheesecake Factory" - big aquarium
there also). Exit through end of forum shops (near 2nd moving statue show).
Enter Mirage - see White Tiger. Walk through and exit by hotel check in
(look at check in area and see large aquarium).
Somewhere during this part of walk, stop for dinner. If it is dark now, see
Mirage's volcano when you go outside or do that at another time.
Take Tram to Treasure Island. Exit and see Pirate show which is about every
hour and a half (check their website to get exact times and try to coincide
with that). Get into place on bridge about 1/2 hr before show for best
viewing; otherwise stand wherever you can. You can also go to the bar and find a
good seat (ask inside casino). (I believe shows start at 4:30pm)
Cross street to Venetian - walk through Venetian - go to 2nd floor shopping
arcade - walk through to St. Mark's Square and see free entertainment. Go
back down to casino floor and be sure to walk through the hotel check in area to
see great floor. (extra charge if you want to go to Guggenheim museum).
···
------------
If the above is too much walking, break it into sections - do Mirage and TI
at night to see their volcano/pirate shows at night.
Under no circumstances miss The Venetian. The Venetian is the biggest
"must-see" - especially seeing 2nd floor with gondola rides and St. Mark's free
entertainment.
---------
Best free show in town - side trip to the Rio (free shuttle runs from
Ballys, Caesars and Harrahs) - see Masquerade in the Sky - shows start after about
4-5 pm (check website for times).
