First time in Laughlin

probably a bit off topic-- but a Laughlin trip report

Just back from our annual 3 day NCAA Basketball weekend trip in Laughlin. Quick observations--

RP-- always stayed there before-- never went to it this time-- no loss

Riverside-- Always hated the casino-- only go to visit the Losers Lounge late nite and watch all the fat chicks-- it is a good time though-- smokiest by far
Played BJ-- on tables where single hand deck is played-- opening deal of a Jack and Ace of spades pays a progressive at the table-- saw it hit a couple times
BTW-- ALL BJ I saw was 3 to 2 now in Laughlin

Edgewater--- same dump

CB-- Fairly active-- good time-- missed the brewery this time

TE-- old hicks-- first and last visit

Aquarius--- got a room for 17.50 nite with players card-- tried the $20 tip for better room-- guy had no clue-- gave me a top floor river room anyway. BEST ROOMS in Laughlin now-- NICE totally remodeled, etc-- Makes EW, RP, CB look like a garage.

A bit younger crowd this year than last-- Fairly crowded-- more so on Sat than Fri.
Pretty much cold on everything but penny slots-- won about $1500 on them--- go figure

Best casino winning-- Aquarius and Golden Nuggett
Worst--- TE, EW

Chili cookoff at CB was good too-- alot of hics though--
All in all a good trip-- any other questions/observations-- let me know
ONLY play slots-- no VP so can't help you there- sorry.

Oatman can be fun - old Route 66 town on the Arizona side of the river.
Burros wander the streets, there are mock gun battles, etc.

The Mexican place in the Riverside is excellent, far, far better than the
one in Harrahs. The nearby movie theater in the RIverside sells alcohol drinks
at their food stand, which is a bit novel.

If you like good beer, the brew pub at the Colorado Belle makes their own
and has gotten much better over time.

If you like to jet ski, you can do that on the river of course. You can
also take a cruise down the river to see the London Bridge (which is not falling
down, falling down) in Lake Havasu City.

If you hate smoke, Harrah's has one of its two casinos completely smoke free.

If you love smoke, the other Harrah's casino is so thick with it (since the
rest of the property is pretty much smoke free) you won't even have to light
up yourself to catch a buzz.

This time of year the weather is mostly spectacular. So one of the side
trips (Oatman, Havasu) would likely be in ideal conditions.

Henderson is only about an hour's drive. There is also another city you
might have heard of just past Henderson, though I forget its name.

Have fun.

Thanks for the responses, yes we will have a car and we will be playing
video poker and blackjack for a while each day, I am sure that my wife will hit
the pool a time or two. Daytime activities and sights, restaurants worth going
to, best place to gamble...The idea about taking the river taxi and walking
back sounds like a nice way to check things out...
