First Post to Biloxi Group

Hi y'all.

I live 1000 miles away. Why join? Because I've been there twice in
the last 2 years, liked it, and am coming back for a week of
golf/gaming in February.

First trip - played at the Copa for 1 day (.05 and .25).

Second trip - I called ahead - spoke with Jetton Benigno (excellent
host). He comped me room and food (he offered it for 3 days - I could
only stay 36 hours). Based on this trip's modest play, he's offering
4 rooms in Feb - 2 rooms comp'd, 2 at casino rate (with followup comp
evaluation of the new players).

On this trip, I also played at Magic BSL for 3 hours ($.25 AA and
DB). That got me a free night, dinner, and a round of golf at The
Bridges. Am now working on a comp'd 3-day stay in Feb. for 8 golfers.

In my limited Gulfport experience, the casino staff are much
friendlier than the Vegas folks. eg - last trip, I arrived at 1am. My
host had left for the night. The slot club folks called the night
shift manager, who personally came over to say hello, and comp'd me a
late night dinner. -- All this on the basis of a 1-day visit 16
months earlier, where I may have put all of $3k coin through. Now
that's service!

For some years now I've been taking February golf trips to
Vegas/Laughlin/Mesquite. This year we're doing Gulfport. Reasons?

- the Feb/March mean temperatures are similar to Vegas/Laughlin, and
warmer than Mesquite NV/St.George UT.

- the golf courses on average are somewhat better, offer more
selection, and are MUCH more affordable.

- the VP is playable, although lacking good numbers of machines.

- it's closer.
- airfare is less, (Buffalo - New Orleans $179)
- the casinos seem to be even easier that Laughlin for comps.
- it's friendlier.
- we love the fresh seafood.

FEARS AND QUESTIONS
(1) Rain - the weather info indicates 5-6 inches of rain per month.
Since we're hoping to play golf every day, this could be a problem.
For any locals out there, can you describe the weather in late
February? Is the rain typically an all-day drizzle, a short tropical
downpour followed by sunshine, or what?

(2) Machine selection and location. At Magic BSL I could only find a
single $.25 AA (2nd floor), and 3 or 4 DB7-10 (same area). Is this
all there is?

(3) Copa machines - first trip there (in the old ship) I kinda
remember that every 2nd machine in a bartop had prog. $25 FPDW, FPDB,
and in another bar, at least 1 AA machine, and some playable $.05
progressives.

Now that they have their new home, the best I found was 7-10 DB in
the 2nd floor sports bar. Is this all there is?

(4) The Grand Gulfport. We'd like to play the Jack Nicklaus course,
which is resticted to Grand guests. This trip, we'd consider playing
there for an evening to pave the way for future comps. What are their
play levels vis-a-vis free nights and golf? Do they have any quarter
machines better than Aces and Faces?

Thanks in advance,

Brian

Typical weather pattern for the MS coast during February: A cold
front moves through, usually with light to medium rain, which may
last most of the day. Next day is cold, damp, and windy. Followed
by a week or so of nicer weather with warming temps. so that you
might eventually be playing golf in shorts - until the next cold
front moves through - then repeat pattern. There is some possibility
of a day long washout this time of year if a strong front moves
through with lots of rain - but much better than a week long washout
that you might get with a tropical storm in the area during the
summer.

There are actually two AA machines in this area. Perhaps one was
broken when you were there.

(3) Copa machines - first trip there (in the old ship) I kinda

The deuces machines are still there. Check in the main bar upstairs,
right half of the bar - every other machine.

(4) The Grand Gulfport. We'd like to play the Jack Nicklaus course,

Don't know about their play requirements, but they do have .25 AA on
the top floor.

Many thanks for the thoughtful reply. I think I'll keep the last day
unscheduled - use it as a rain check day.

If you're going to be around that week, let me know - maybe meet and
greet.
