So, will be in Laughlin over the 4th. I gather I shouldn't bring a
sweater, but any other informational tidbits would be appreciated.
Good vantage point to see fireworks? Any good promotions that don't
involve lugging a six pack of beverage through airport security?
Stimulus check promo maybe? It has been about 18 months since my last
visit.

So 18 months ago must have been around New Years Eve or so. Harrahs-L has
been busy remodeling rooms and adding suites (North Tower). The Margarittaville
Bar and Rosa's Cantina are gone, with the new Chances bar taking its place in
the smoking casino last September. The cocktailers disappear now into a
hidden service bar area.

Still some VP to play, but a few single lines have vanished. It seems they
quit doing daily low roller drawings for awhile. The weekend Diamond lounge
hours have been cut...Opens at Noon I hear on Sat/Sun.

Eighteen months ago the Aquarius should have had their new casino floor
completed. They are doing the rooms now, real slow going.

Let's see the Marnell-Sher deal should have been announced for CB/EW. They
got the keys offficially on June 1st last year. They have remodeled the
casinos and are now 100% TITO. You can play some quarter FPDW or KBJW on comfy
slant-tops. Bonus 8/5 is available from nickels to $5, with the bartops having
progressives at the quarter level.

Accross the street the Trop Express got remodeled. They reoriented the pit.
The Caboose Lounge looks real nice now with better sight lines. The live
music starts early in the day. Booblehead Bob from CB, is their promo guy now.

Golden Nugget keeps taking out anything playable, but adding dozens of new
shiny GameKings. Pioneer still is a fun play with all the promos they do over
there. Riverside still looks junky. River Palms redid their bartops to TITO,
loading in individual meters for each bar/game.

So do you get to fly out of Midway, or maybe Rockford or some other smaller
airport?

Yep, I believe our last visit was during that twilight between Christmas and
NYE. There wasn't anything worth playing on that bar, but people seemed to
have a good time slurping margaritas there and I didn't particularly care
for the food at the Cantina, so no great loss. No restaurant to replace it?
That leaves coffee shop, buffet, food court and the Range.

There have been some changes in Laughlin. Maybe I'll pop into a few places
while walking along the river, but time will be short. I'd like to peek
into Aquarius and have lunch at the brew pub in the Belle, maybe... They
are open for lunch, aren't they? We really only have 2 full days. By the
time I play a little poker and we sing for our supper at Harrah's I'll be on
a flight home.

This flight leaves out of Midway. Not our preferred airport as we live up
north, but we liked the days offerred for the junket. They also have
occassional flights out of Ohare and a salting of other regional airports in
Illinois, Wisconsin and Indiana.
