Within the past month, in a casino which is (barely) within Clark
County NV (but not in the immediate vicinity of Las Vegas), I was
present when a fire alarm was announced. I was "not at all
impressed" with the immediately-ensuring proceedings; had there been
an actual fire, more than a little avoidable loss of life might well
have resulted.
Wound up discussing the issue with casino's Security Manager. During
conversation, I expressed concern as to procedures for extinguishing
gaming-device lights, which tend to be--under normal circumstances--
quite distracting. Response was to effect that this would have to
have been done manually--one bank at a time.
IMO, "critical" lighting, and gaming devices, should be on entirely-
separate circuits. Such that power, to all of the latter, can be
disconnected by tripping of only one circuit breaker. Ideally, power
to the former should also be backed up by some form of "UPS";
ensuring a few minutes' continued operation in the event of utility-
power failure.
