Awhile back I was talking to Bob Dancer, via e-mail, when he ask
me if I had any quotes on "luck" that was kind of different for use
in a new book he was writing. I sent him a few, but none of them
seemed quite right for what he was looking for.
I was interested to see if he ever used any of those that I sent
or which one he chose instead. I meant to buy his book eventually,
but hadn't gotten around to it as yet. (although I have well over a
hundred books related to gambling and I seem to buy one every week)
Monday, I got his book "Million Dollar Video Poker" in the mail
from a acquaintance that I'd given some gambling advice to before a
Vegas trip. My advice was to play video poker exclusively and buy
Bob's "Win Poker" software, among others, get his new book and check
out where to play on vpFree. Well, she did and she came back a winner.
When she got back she bought a new copy and sent it to me. I
called and thanked her and said that maybe she should share her
winnings with me also. She just laughed and said, "Fat chance of that
happening."
I haven't started the book yet, but should get to it as soon as I
finish "Big Deal" by Anthony Holden. (a good poker book) Since then I
have added many new quotes on "luck" to my collection. And if you are
reading this Bob, "Stop the presses, here are a few better ones!"
"Luck decides who shall accomplish the great work, who shall be
crowned with laurel, and who shall fall back into silence and
obscurity."
--William E. Woodward
"My luck is so bad that if I bought a cemetery, people would stop
dying."
--Ed Furgol
"Luck isn't a thing. No one owns it. No one has it, finds it or
can do a single solitary thing to change it."
--Lou Krieger & Arthur Reber
"How can you say that luck and chance are the same thing? Chance
is the first step you take, luck is what comes afterwards."
--Amy Tan
"One of the more inportant concepts of my strategy is that it is
based on luck."
--Rob Singer
"Luck is just the interpretation of all the good things that
happen to us during a lifetime."
--VP Pappy
