The "File is saved" messages that were generated by most vpFREE posts for a
week or so appear to have stopped. I contacted the sender's ISP and they shut
down the sender's account. I have identified and unsubscribed the probable
sender.
I assume that this incident revolved around Email address harvesting, but don't
know for certain. FWIW, I get hardly any spam at the address I use for posting
on vpFREE, and I know of several other accounts in the same category.
In a possible "shutting the barn door after the horse is stolen" move, I am now
requiring that all new members furnish personal information before they are
approved for membership, and I'm also implementing some other anti-spam
measures.
I hate spam.
