Boy those prices were no bargain. If in 1941 a couple had two
chicken dinners and two avocado cocktails with 1000 island dressing
for the appetizer. They were looking at $9 plus I threw in fifty
cents for the tip (people used to tip way less back then it wasn't
15% or even close to that). And I didn't add anything for sales
taxes because I don't think they had those back then. Anyhow I
looked it up in the inflation calculator and the $9.50 comes to
$131.97 in 2006 dollars.
