That's a good question and good point. I too like the idea of progressives, and I too think that the smart players can continue to benefit from them as the casinos also continue to profit. A win-win situation. But that particular bank had a progressive on top of an already positive base game, and if you know the crowd that frequents that bank in the day time I am quite sure that Fiesta Rancho lost money on it. I don't know if they kept it this long for "bragging rights" or as a loss-leader, but obviously they finally decided it wasn't worth it. I dunno, but that's how it looks to me from the outside.
By the way, I am not sure how fast that progressive built up, but I don't think it was slow. Many times I stumbled upon it to find it in the $1300 range. And seats OPEN too! (at night anyway)
I'd like to see more progressives around town like 9-7 Double Bonus, 8-5 Bonus, 9-6 JoB, PNSU, etc.

I suppose this is another instance of "logic" being overruled (or, maybe, I just do not understand the full situation).
I am referring to my feelings about "progressive" VP machines. I would think this would be something that any casino would want to use (exclusively?) In my view (maybe my view is distorted?), a progressive VP machine gives us all the best of both worlds. The casino does not have to install "super" pay tables and yet the player can experience a rising EV (at little or no cost to the casino?) The additional bonus for the casino is the constant evolution of proper strategy, meaning that there are probably fewer people playing the optimal strategy.
What am I missing?
