First, good news is that Wynn will be resuming some sort of locals promotion
in the next month or two. They didn't have details yet, and it may be
different from the previous great free play of last year, but if you are a local
apparently you should receive an email about this soon.
The drawing tonight for a Ferrari had about 400 people attending by my very
rough estimate, but there were a large number of entries in the drum. We had
about 30 entries - no luck (per our usual bad luck at promotions!).
Good news was that Jean Scott won one of the 25 extra drawings for $1000.
She and Brad had 100 tickets.
Jean said that she knew a pro player (a doctor) who had 800 tickets. He won
$1000, but his heart about stopped when the Ferrari name started with
Doctor... The winner turned out to be a woman doctor.
Jean knew about 7 of the people who won $1000, pros who play at a high level.
At the Wynn it takes $9 at VP to get a point, and you needed 1000 points to
get 1 ticket into the drawing.
If the doctor with 800 tickets played VP, he would have put through about
7.2 million in the earning period of about 2 months. Yikes.
Reel slot players had a bit easier time, with only $3 to get 1 point.
We (as usual) wasted our time going to this drawing, but since there was a
slim chance, we went. The good news was that we had a nice (comped) meal at
Okada restaurant, which has excellent sushi, Japanese fare, and teppanyaki.
It is a very pretty restaurant as well. We had teppanyaki which was good,
though not as good as at the Hilton's Benihanas. Also more pricey, at $75 for a
filet mignon dinner (includes soup, salad, and desert)....but at least it
was comped!
We asked how long your comps last at Wynn, and were told that you need to
have "activity" on your card each month. Good thing we asked, since I
accumulated a lot of comps last year playing for the cashback offer, and pretty much
wasn't planning to play....so we did play a little to keep the comps.
If you play there, you can use your comps for any restaurant (providing you
have enough comps) as well as for the excellent Wynn buffet. They have quite
a few very nice restaurants. I also was able to get comped tickets to Le
Reve, and hope to get some for Spamalot when it opens in March.
