Feedback from BConnected about v.p. & tier credits

hear from some of you as to how much coin-in is required to get one
Boyd Tier Credit on video poker? In Vegas? At other recently
acquired Boyd properties? What are the requirements for one Boyd Tier
Credit on slots or table games? What are the coin-in requirements for
earning B Connected points? Since Boyd changed their system in
September, has it been advantageous for ANYONE--maybe slot players?"

Max, the formula to calculate the coin-in per tier credit on video
poker was posted here -

appears Boyd is trying to get 50c of theo per tier point.
99.17% BP = 0.50 / (1-99.17%) = $60 coin in per tier point
99.54% jacks = 0.50 / (1-99.54%) = $109 coin in per tier point
99.73% NSUD = 0.50 / (1-99.73%) = $185 coin in per tier point"

It takes $5 coin-in per tier credit on reels and video reels according
to a card they handed out in Las Vegas. This card front and back is in
the Miscellaneous photo album here. It also says that it takes $2
coin-in to earn one BConnected point on video poker and $1 coin-in
for reels and video reels.

I have confirmed the video poker tier credit and BConnected point
rates in Las Vegas and as far as I know they are supposed to be the
same at all the BConnected properties throughout the country.

For NSUD, $170 coin-in gets you 1 tier credit.

I was interested in a Daily Point conversion (the points you see on your machine) to tier credits and found that

85 Daily Points = 1 Tier Credit.

I’m confident that the 85 daily points or $170 coin-in is at worst an upper bound for one tier credit.

I was told by BConnected staff that if you change games or change machines, your tier credit “counter” resets to 0. This could be costly to those that change games/machines frequently.

Thank you, Jeff and Oblah Dah for your responses to my questions. The more I find out about Boyd, the more depressing that organization seems.

I played exactly 85 points ($170 coin in) on the $1 NSUD at Fremont Casino and it was insufficient to earn a coveted tear credit. Varies by casino?

I get $185 coin-in, not $170. (1/.0027)x50¢=$185

There have been 2 reports of the $170 figure at another casino. Your formula appears accurate for the TBP I normally play. $250 = 1 tear credit.

You have to ask yourself what are you playing for. Highest return or tier status. IMHO tier status beyond Sapphire or Emerald is highly overrated. If you want tier status or good mailers play slots. If you want max return play 99.8%VP on 11x points day. Seldom do both plans coincide at Boyd anymore. You have to choose the best game to meet the personal utility of why you play.

IMHO playing for tier status is usually a losing game.

You should be crying even without the tear credit

Does anyone ever check their win loss record through their b-connected account? My husband checked his and it stated he had won thousands of dollars- which was pretty amazing considering he rarely uses his card when we visit Vegas. This makes me wonder how accurate their system was in converting over from the old tier points to the new. I still feel I got shorted when they converted .

as lowly, unappreciated Ruby players we see NO reason to ever go back to Boyd…We used to go to Sam’s Town 3x per year and were getting 2-3 free nights…no more…nada

I could have easily overlooked it, but I haven’t seen any mention of routinely getting 2X points at the Sapphire level and 3X points at the Emerald level. Did Boyd’s new system do away with them?

Yes, that benefit is history.

I was just curious if anyone knows what the tier credit situation is with games over 100% like the 10/7 Double Bonus Poker at Main Street Station. Do you earn zero tier credits with unlimited play? Do they subtract tier credits because the casino has a theoretical negative EV?

no tier credits earned
