I'd like the same information about 5/7 nickel and 5/8 quarter and
higher Treasure Chest, as found at Main Street Station, Fremont,
California, and Stardust. 4 of a kind pays at least 140 if 5 coins are
played, but payoffs on the nickel machine at MSS can be 180, 250, 500,
or 2500 coins. Not sure of the distrbution, but I've hit 180
regularly, and 250 and 500 occasionally. 2500 is very rare. You would
think that a 5/7 game would be terrible, but in practice that isn't
the case.

The only way you can figure out the payback on the treasure chest machines is by knowing the frequency of the different quad payouts. Without that information all you can do is come up with a pay range.

The only way you can figure out the payback on the treasure chest machines is by knowing the frequency of the different quad payouts. Without that information all you can do is come up with a pay range.
I was hoping someone had figured that out. By my estimation
(scientific wild a**ed guess), one gets 140 70%, 180 roughly 20%, 250
8%, and 500 maybe 1.995%, with that 2500 at .005%.

I used your numbers and came up with the following.... The nickel version of treasure chest would return %97.99. The quarter version would be around %99.2 the same as regular single bonus vp.

Close enough. The more common payoffs are fairly accurate, at least
for nickel machines. 500 and 2500 are not so accurate (I have never
gotten a 2500).

Just for information purposes, I hit the big payoff on quads on the Treasure Chest machine at the Fremont bank of these machines, about three years ago. Haven't played it since. <G> The hit was $1195, just like hitting a RF. That's nearly 4800 coins, for what it's worth in this conversation.
