Expensive Lesson - re holding kicker in DDB

Maybe I missed something, but Video Poker Strategy master says in DD Bonus
(9/6 at any rate) you do not hold the kicker with 3 Aces, just 3 Aces.

In which games would you hold a kicker, if any?

In triple double bonus where quad aces + kick = 4000, and quad 234+kick
=2000 you hold the kicker
and go for the single card draw - regards...Tom

You're right about DDB. However, in Triple Double Bonus**, the hand Four Aces w/2-4 pays as much as the Royal (4000). As you might imagine, the same general rule "if you've got 4 of the cards you need for the biggest jackpot, go for the 5th card" applies.

Also, for a hand such as 2-2-2-3-9, you would hold 2-2-2-3 because of the 2000 coin payoff on Four 2-4 w/A-4.

****Which are all very short pay because Trips pays 2 instead of 3. Best pay scale I've ever seen is 8/5/4/2/1/1, 93.5%. Yikes.
