EW Slot Tourneys this week

Well Marnell looks to be going hog wild with the first ever slot tourneys
they are offering this week. I hope we can get some feedback to evaluate the
value of them.

In the Entertainer was an ad for the two day free event for low rollers
ending tonight. It stated $25k was up for grabs. One free entry and additional
whacks, up to four, putting on 350 points. Play anytime with finals at 7:30
tonight. Top prize $5k.

Some of you also got mail for the weekend. What was that four nights and a
$100k prize fund? This probably is the first special invite for Gold/Crystal
card eligible types.

I find this so interesting. Give the low rollers a taste and then have the
invites have a chance for some decent money.

Questions:

What is the format of the tourneys? They probably are going to have some
hoopla in Kokopellis...what kind? Well run? How about entries versus number of
payouts?

I noticed a month ago this weekends internet room rates were $160 for the
weekend nights instead of $35. So this is a big one for them.

I think Marnell-Sher knows exactly what they are doing...including that VP
purge June 1st.

No doubt this is perhaps the biggest tournament in Lauglin for years,
perhaps ever. I read they expect 3,000 to participate in this one.
Rooms are now sold out for Friday, so it looks like they are
generating some real interest. Good for them, and for Laughlin. I
hope they can pull off the logistics of such a big event for a first
time.

I was also interested in this statemet:
"I think Marnell-Sher knows exactly what they are doing...including
that VP purge June 1st."
What do you think they had in mind in purging good vp plays? As
expected, they threw out the old Sigma and older coin droppers, but
they also lowered the paytables at the machines they did keep. Were
they trying to find out if people in Laughlin would play poorer
paytables? Or perhaps making it bad, and then coming back with good
paytables makes them look good to the customer? I don't understand
the logic of all of this.

What I do know is that I used to come in RFB, and then the new owners
came in offering me $24.95 rooms. I read about the poor paytables,
and my wife and I changed a planned trip for Sept. due to these
events. How did this benefit Marnell-Sher?

However, I will say my offers have improved greatly in the last
month.
