Many of you have visited the videopoker.com website. It's a great place to check out new games and get a feel for them.
Playing at an online "free" VP website is not the same as at a casino wagering your own hard-earned money. For one thing, the paytables are usually full-pay and far better than what many casinos offer.
But even videopoker.com has started to downgrade.
A few days ago I chose a 5 Play Super Times Pay game at videopoker.com since it replicates what is available at my closest casino.
And, to my surprise, the paytable for Jacks or Better which used to be 9/6 is now 9/5.
Downgrading a free game? Why bother?
I think I can make an educated guess as to why they made this change.
Videopoker.com now offers a training mode as part of an optional paid membership. So, in order to sell this feature, they probably reduced paytables to replicate what is ordinarily found in most casinos. I noticed their DB game had also been downgraded from 9/7 to 9/6/5.
While appreciating videopoker.com's "thoughtfulness", the most useful training software allows you to set your own paytable and provides the appropriate strategy. For that reason, you might want to instead check out vpgenius.com as your FREE reference tool.
