Evaluating Multiple Progressives

This subject has been discussed before, with different methods
suggested. I thought some readers may find the method I use of
interest.

Using Winpoker or FrugalVP I develop a table for each of
the progressive jackpots. Different tables are setup for each
game type/paytable found in the casinos I usually visit.

The table below is for quarter 7/5 Bonus Poker with 5 progressives
(including SF which is unusual).

To use the table, add up the numbers in the left column corresponding
to the level of each progressive. Find the sum in the left column on
the next table ... the return is opposite that number. Then add the
comp rate for that casino/day to get the total return including comps.

For example, suppose the RF is $1357(40), the SF is $62.50(0), 4Aces
is $173(60), 4-2/4 is $64(30), and 4-5/K is $42(70). That adds to
200, for a total return of 102%.

The result using the table is not perfect, but is usually very close
to the computed value using Winpoker for FrugalVP.

The table can easily be modified for any denomination of game. For
example, multiply the dollar amounts by 4 for a $1 game.

This is pretty similar to what I do. I first deal in % of %, so I can
use whole numbers. I start by assuming the game is at reset. 7/5
Bonus would have a value of - 198, since it has a 98.02% payback.
Then, I figure out how many times each hand that's progressive should
hit per 10,000 hands and add that times how many bets the meter is
over reset. 4 5s - Ks hits about 16 times per 10,000 hands, so it
gets 16 "points" for every bet the meter is over reset. If it's a
5-coin quarter machine and the meter is $33.75, it gets 32 points, for
example, and so on.
