I was not planning on responding to comments generated by my
earlier "Bob Dancer Ethics" post because the administrator moved the
discussion elsewhere. I thought that meant he/she didn't want the
discussion continued here. Perhaps I'm confused about what moving the
discussion to FREEvpFREE means. Today, the adminstrator then posted a
comment from John Kelly on this this subject on this site, so I guess
it's fair game to talk about now.

Although my comments about Dan and Jean seemed out-of-the-blue
to some of you, I felt they were provoked. In Dan's case he posted a
"Bob Dancer and Rob Singer are basically the same" note (I don't have it
in front of me at the moment and may have the title wrong) in early
September that was full of inaccuracies and slander. (It was forwarded
to me by a responsible member of this forum. I could not respond at the
time as I wasn't a member of vpFREE.) Jean trashed my ethics and
business practices for being tickled that adding the word "frugal" to
the most expensive software struck me as funny. Note I didn't say
anything bad about the software. Merely implied the name "Not So Frugal
Video Poker" might be a more accurate name for it. Surely others can see
the humor in that. A week or so earlier she invited the group to discuss
my ethics concerning the slot marathon, and since she was a minister's
daughter she implied herself well qualified to referee. Perhaps you
didn't view her post as confrontational, but I did. My judgement was
that if I let Jean and Dan say these things unchallenged, they would
continue. If I nipped them in the bud, perhaps they would not. I guess
we'll have to see.

My comment about Jean letting the water run was not slander. I
certainly wasn't in her hotel room and am going by my memory of what she
wrote in the early days of Strictly Slots. My memory is imperfect, but
I'm sure the gist of what I said was correct.

I didn't join vpFREE to trash others. At the same time, I'm not
planning on standing by and let others trash me. I am quite willing to
be treat others in the same way they treat me. Jean and I have both
vowed to be more civil. She has insulted, scolded, lectured, and
threatened me in private in the past two days, but at least that's
better than doing it in public.

If you believe my earlier response was excessive, so be it. It
felt like a justifiable response to me. You have my word that I won't
throw the next stone. But if I'm attacked unfairly, I'll respond in the
way I feel appropriate.

Fair enough, Bob. But I would have hoped that the adage "the best
defense is a good offense" would apply only to far more adversarial
ground than the one that stands between you and Jean.

I can see why you admit a problem with provoking strong negative
feelings from others. The proper way to respond to "attacks" is to
take the high road and defend yourself, not retaliate in kind. Just
take a look at the number of negative (and I mean negative) posts
your retaliatory response generated ... and these may be only the tip
of the iceberg.

On the other hand, if you simply don't care what others think about
you, go right ahead and "trash" back. You won't be winning any
public respect, but maybe that is not important to you.
